If you are looking for a portable file server look elsewhere.

Gene "Gene", Amazon

  • Summary: I purchased it to run OpenWRT (PirateBox) so I could use it as a minidlna server on a road trip. Was planning on having 3+ iOS devices connected to it for streaming video. Intermittently when trying to connect iOS devices to it the thing crashes and reboots, and this is even before loading up VLC to...

  • Summary: This product does not work with the only USB 4G modem AT&T currently sells, the "BEAM" Which is a Sierra Wireless U340. Contacted TP-Link tech support and they indicated there are just too many modems on the market for them to keep up. Seriously, AT&T isn't a fly-by-night gang now, are they?

  • Summary: I had high hopes for this product since it has many favorable reviews around the web. However the simple setup instructions are wrong and the unit does not work out of the box. Getting it to work will require knowledge and experience with computer networking or a call to technical support (I reached...

William W Wilson, Amazon

  • Summary: Purchased to use with my Verizon 4G card. It would not work. Called company and they told me not currently compatiable; they provided no suggestions. The only upside was seamless return.

Piece of junk in my opinion

Anonymous, Newegg
10 December 2011
  • Summary: Buy a Cradlepoint!
  • Pros: None that I know of. I gave one star just in case this modem works on something else that I do not own.
  • Cons: Modem says right on the box "Verizon 3G" compatible. My USB 3G modem is a Novatel U760. It IS on the TP-Links compatibility list. I bought two new routers because of the good reviews I read. Now own two paperweights and it will cost me over $20 to return to New Egg. I spent two days off and on wi...

limited compatibility, no support

Vivek P., Newegg
22 July 2011
  • Summary: I thought of figuring out the issues myself using their GNU source code. Downloaded it but the zipped tar files do not have correct format. I think the company needs to learn about customer care/service and high quality/professional work. Waste of shipping cost for me.
  • Pros: IF it worked with sprint 3G, it would be good to use it on travel etc.
  • Cons: Company does not have tech support. I wanted to make it work with the U301 sprint card (which also works with linux), but can not reach the tech support. Tried sending emails, calling their main phone number in China as well as the 866 number in USA. The mails dont get answered, and the phones re...

MTS Customers please dont buy

Srikanth Venkataswamy, Amazon
25 April 2015
  • Summary: I would not suggest this for a range extender. Range of the router is good, but you would see frequent disconnects for MTS dongle. Even in the settings you see multiple options for MTS dongle, i am not sure what is the change in there.
