Cheap and versatile

Shimon Mor, Amazon
  • Summary: I bought five of these to use as access points for PLCs and other equipment. The goods are that it's cheap, easy to set up and use, has three different modes, has a battery (which lasts about 6-8 hours in AP mode), and is small and light. The downside is you need to hook them up to a computer with an Ethernet cable the first time so you can program them (pretty standard though, so not a huge deal...but still annoying). Also, they are kind of flaky.

Used with Canon camera

model210_0, Ebay
4 March 2014
  • Summary: I bought the TP-Link to do wireless viewing and image transfer with a Canon camera. After a download of a special firmware and using a Android app call DLSR Controller it worked. The rechargeable battery holds a decent charge. I didn't use it for its original purpose which is as a travel router. It seems well made and charges quickly.

  • Summary: I bought this device for one purpose, wireless control of my Nikon cameras. With a free download of Dsldashboard on my Android phone and tablet, I have a powerful tool to perform camera shoots with incredible results. Don't know how the other functions work, but this one task it performs has saved me a couple of hundred bucks.
