Summary: Many new TV displays now include only one component and/or composite input -- HDMI inputs are becoming the "standard" input connection. However, HDMI does not provide some of the control of closed captioning that was provided on the older connections. This switch allows up to four devices with the older connections to be connected to a single connection on the TV display, and to control the selection of the source with a remote control switch.
Summary: Having an older HDTV that has only one (1) 1080i input, the component switch has enabled me to connect an HD cable box, DVD/VCR combo recorder/player, and Blu-ray player to the one available 1080i video input along with connecting the audio output for all these components to my surround sound audio receiver. I also used the fourth audio circuit to connect my compact disk recorder/player to the audio receiver.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Highly Compatible, Professional Quality
Summary: My new Samsung LED has only one component and several HDMI connections. I had a Bose system and a Wii game that both needed the component connection. This solved my problem. Radio Shack is the only place I could find to order one online.
