Connect multiple component/composite

X, Radioshack
12 February 2014
  • Summary: Many new TV displays now include only one component and/or composite input -- HDMI inputs are becoming the "standard" input connection. However, HDMI does not provide some of the control of closed captioning that was provided on the older connections. This switch allows up to four devices with the older connections to be connected to a single connection on the TV display, and to control the selection of the source with a remote control switch.
  • Pros: Improves Performance

  • Summary: May have difficulty switching some PEG cable channels. Okay for switching DVD/VHS/broadcast generated video signals.
  • Pros: Inexpensive, good-looking 4-port component video switch with a remote control.
  • Cons: Will not work properly on all cable TV PEG channels.

Startech Component Switch

SWAZ, Radioshack
18 January 2010
  • Summary: Having an older HDTV that has only one (1) 1080i input, the component switch has enabled me to connect an HD cable box, DVD/VCR combo recorder/player, and Blu-ray player to the one available 1080i video input along with connecting the audio output for all these components to my surround sound audio receiver. I also used the fourth audio circuit to connect my compact disk recorder/player to the audio receiver.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Highly Compatible, Professional Quality
  • Cons: No Optical Audio Circuits
