Summary: I originally bought one of these routers 2 years ago. One day it just stopped working. I thought it was broken, so I bought a new one. It turned out to be a bad power supply. Not happy about that. Mainly used it as a Wireless Access Point, but had to slow the transmission to 54 Mbps to get it to work good and stay connected. It's good compared to other routers I've used, but wireless just sucks in general.
Summary: This is the first wireless router I have used, and I relied on the saleman's recommendation when I bought it. I spent one tedious hour getting it set up. After that, it has been a joy. I have been using it for 6 months with no trouble at all. Followup: I started getting frequent dropped signals after 2 years and replaced this router. Apparently the router was failing because, with a new router, I'm not having any more trouble.
Summary: My 5-year old Netgear WGR614 wireless G-standard router was starting to drop connection with my cable modem so I shopped around, read the reviews and decided to stay with Netgear despite the mixed reviews. Two reasons to go with the Netgear WNR834B - first, if you are already using a Netgear G-standard router, the setup will not be an adventure and secondly it keeps standardization with other Netgear wireless equipment.
Summary: It took my husband many hours to set up this piece of equipment, but it works very well. I think this type of equipment is difficult to set up unless you are a trained technician. We have had no problems with the reuter so far.
Summary: I doubt I have ever had as much indecision in arriving at what I consider to be the most appropriate star rating for any item I've reviewed. I do not claim to be a networking savant however I do have enough of a background that I felt confident that I could create a security-enabled network with only a moderate degree of frustration. And, if I thought through the process, I could have, but that blurb on the box about easy setup lured me in.
Summary: This is an excellent wireless n router. Signal is great to all my devices and speed is outstanding on my iBook and Intel iMac. I also have a wireless networked printer. Works great with that as well. Setup is easy and for the most part, there are no problems at all... but there is one. I also have some gaming consoles that I wanted to use it with. Like my old Netgear WGR614, this WNR834M works great with XBOX 360 and the Wii.

Cons: . . . . ma prestazioni inferiori alle aspettative
