Summary: My WNR834Bv2 was 3 years old, then it just died. All lights quit, no power, no work. Nothing I tried could revive the thing. Not worth fixing. So I bought a new Belkin and found out that it downloads and works almost twice as fast on N.
Summary: I own this and it seems to work OK for stretches of time then locks up. All WiFi connections stop and power must be cycled. I got it as a re certified unit (should have been a red flag!) for dirt cheap. I guess you get what you pay for!!! Replacing it today!
Summary: I bought this router without research (last time I do that). I tried to use the setup software on the cd provided with the router, but could not get it to work through the PC or MAC. So I went through the router's IP interface to setup the security. My PCs had no trouble connecting to the wireless G. My PS3 connected with no issues through the ethernet. However, my MacBook Pro (Airport Extreme N) would connect and disconnect through the wireless N connection.
Summary: We first got this router in June 2007, following the failure of a D-Link wireless router. We have two desktop computers, an all-in-one printer, and 2 (or more) wireless laptops on our home network, all XP. Our ISP comes via a 2ghz wireless transmission. I ignored the CD, since we are on a static IP and I know how to input the numbers. First problem was that the router wouldn't accept Firefox input; I had to switch to IE.
Summary: Product installation was a 7 out of 10 (10 being hardest), took about 45 minutes, and Netgear support WILL NOT support you unless you provide name, address, telephone, Serial Number, where you bought it,what day, etc. to some heavily accented person - at least 20 minutes just to register. 1 - Speed is OK, but definitely not what's advertised or printed on box. 2 - Signal is pretty decent around the house - 2 stories.
Summary: I lost two CAT5E wires inside our walls following a nearby lightning strike. I had no choice but to go wireless. I had a D-Link G adapter sitting around but it would not run under Vista and no drivers are planned. Fine, I thought, time to jump to the next gen technology - wireless N. Some research led me to believe the Netgear router 834B was a good choice. I bought it along with two Netgear WN121T USB adapters and a WN311B PCI adapter.
