Excerpt: For several months we were having a hard time getting reliable signal from Actiontec Router/modem supplied by DSL provider. Also the wi-fi signal wasn't getting to certain rooms so we used this to extend the signal and haven't had a problem since. In fact I will probably replace the Actiontec with another Netgear product soon. I am just waiting for a good deal on one and will make the switch. I found this to be a great value and setup was easy.
Excerpt: My old router died and I needed a replacement fast - so headed straight to Staples. I got close to the right aisle but needed a little assist from an associate, which I got pretty promptly. He kept trying to steer me toward higher end units but no problem there - that's his job. I selected this one based on specs and it is working fine.
Excerpt: This is a great product, but I had trouble getting it to work. I had to call Tech support and after going over everything with the Tech person, he had me do a reset of the router. A lot of his time and mine were spent to get this to work. I can't believe this is really necessary, it should work out of the box, or have the proper instructions with it to get you going. You can't look up the instructions "On Line" if you can't get "On Line"!
Excerpt: The way they are making routers these I think they actually made it more difficult. I liked the old day where you put in the IP address and go into the router and configure it. Some of them these days take you through and automated setup. This one was nice and easy. I am actually just using it as an access point which works great.
Excerpt: The router itself is a good buy for the money. If this is for use in a house i would highly recommend. The only caveat is that setup can be a pain until you download the Netgear Genie as an app on your cell phone. Once i did that, not only was setup easy but subsequent use has been amazing. Among its features it allows you to control the site filters to block sights and control who's using the network.
