  • Summary: I bought the router and set it up that evening. It would not work-I called the customer service for net gear and spent nearly 90 minutes troubleshooting. It never worked even after that help. The Netgear rep told me to take it back to Walmart. The next day it was working and I am not sure why.

  • Summary: I have yet to be able to set up this router. My old router works poorly, but it does work. I have spent hours on several occasions to get the new router to work. Once I get it to work I will update my review.

  • Summary: Horrible once I unboxed and setup, I type in 192.168.1.1 since that is the default IP address for NetGear. It makes me jump through a million hoops just to get to Main page of the router settings; All I want to do is set up a DMZ for my XBOX, and open the ports for the NAT type to be open.

Awesome until it died.

  • Summary: I've gone through all the trouble shooting online and have failed to make my device work. Calling customer support is a joke and is by FAR the worst customer support I've ever dealt with. I have a lifetime warranty on this device if it's a hardware problem.
  • Pros: -worked awesome until one day it randomly didn't. -looks cool
  • Cons: I had the same problem as a previous reviewer who summed it up nicely: "-Power Light Stays Amber nothing else happens. -The Netgear genie does not recognize the device, and says it is not supported -The reset to factory settings did not work -Unable to connect to the device to try to update the f...

  • Summary: I am an experienced computer user and can easily setup networks. This router was fine for 6 months, then it died. I reset the router to factory defaults, and it worked for another month. It is now completely DEAD. Factory reset won't get it working again. Had to go buy a new router.

Work well until it died after less than 9 months

Sebastien G., Newegg
15 March 2015
  • Summary: I bought this router since it had some good review and a lifetime warranty, thinking it will last many years. Netgear products are supposed to be good, in my case it was my first experience with this brand and possibly the last.
  • Pros: Work very well until it suddenly stopped. Wifi activated or stopped with a button is a nice feature. Easy to setup.
  • Cons: My speed was half what it was supposed to be, so I reset it with the on / off switch and it never worked again. -Power Light Stays Amber nothing else happens. -The Netgear genie does not recognize the device, and says it is not supported -The reset to factory settings did not work -Unable to conn...

Not worth it

Ion P., Newegg
27 January 2015
  • Summary: Works fine even now with 3 of the CAT5E running like snakes in all directions. Wireless is unusable. I have submitted a ticket to Netgear, but for the price I might just buy another router, a Linksys this time.
  • Pros: It works well when it works.Wireless started acting strange, got to the point where is no longer used.
  • Cons: Once it starts dropping the wireless signal, it's over. Tried updating firmware from the netgear site, errors.
