Netgear WNR2000

The WNR2000 is a wireless router from Netgear. It has the newly put 802.11n or Wireless-N which means that this wireless router would have a different performance from its predecessors. It is said that when the WNR2000 is used with RangeMax Wireless-N adapters and Wireless-N devices, the speed and performance of your wireless network would work better than before. In many ways, it is said to boost its speed and performance. Netgear has noted that it is backwards compatible with Wireless-G standards so as it can still be used with Wireless-G devices that you already have. The Netgear WNR2000 measures 2.6 x 10.2 x 9 inches and weights 4 pounds.

Features

The WNR2000 features firewall protection such as network address translation (NAT). NAT helps to keep your network hidden from outsiders. There’s also the packet inspection (SPI) firewall which denies outside requests for personal information. Another security service is the denial-of-service (DoS) attack prevention, intrusion detection and prevention (IDS), and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA2-PSK, WPA-PSK). It also features 64-bit and 128-bit encryption. There’s also a wireless access control that identifies authorized wireless network devices connected to your network. For child lock options, there are a couple of features such as the URL content filtering, time-based usage controls, and “trusted user” controls. It has a push-button connectivity and it can automatically configure your router for virtually all ISP connections. It also has four Ethernet ports so that connections can be made with or without wires. There’s a Smart Wizard installation CD that comes with the purchase of this wireless router. What it does is it helps to make the set-up process easier by automatically detecting and configuring your router for virtually all ISP connections. To new computers to the router, that can be done by pressing the Push 'N' Connect button located on the router and it connects automatically and securely. This wireless router also automatically checks and upgrades itself so as to keep the router up-to-date with the latest software by Netgear. This router has a particular design that in a way, it depends on internal antennas to work. Unlike many other routers, this one has an on/off button which can be used to either turn it on or turn it off. As Netgear promotes the importance of a clean environment, this router is an Energy Star compliant which means that its power usage is not much and the product itself is made of 80-percent recycled materials. There’s a one year manufacturer’s warranty that comes with the purchase of this wireless router. Other things that come with the purchase of this wireless router are the stand, Ethernet cable, setup CD, power adapter and the warranty/support information card.
