The router replaced a more expensive model the WNDR3800 which was a nightmare of connection problems with WiFi. The WNR1000 I have is V.3 and it only has the 2.4Ghz band coverage. But most of my devices only support this anyway. It has a bit less range then the WNDR3800 but still covers a 1300Sq ft home with good signal. Considering a spent $120 on the WNDR3800 and it lasted 6 months vs $29 for the WNR1000 I'll never buy another expensive router again. You'll never get enough added speed or coverage in a busy neighborhood with many 2.4Ghz stations to justify that expensive router. The speeds will drop anyway and your left wondering why did I waste that money. Unless you actually have 5Ghz devices the duel band routers are basically a waste. Even if you have some devices that support the 5Ghz band. You may be disappointed in the range. I certainly was with the WNDR3800. Its why I don't ever plan to over spend on a router anymore.
