Crash's with any traffic load disconnects frequently

Superjeff69, Amazon
  • Summary: Yet another device with great potential and specs, but low on delivery and quality. I was really excited to find this device os i could share files more easily, but I have found this to be unreliable at best. Any high traffic load will crash the storage or WiFi. Large file transfers are not possible because it will crash and lose the connection.

DO NOT BUY, keeps disconnecting from the internet.

Pauline Parrott, Amazon
30 October 2014
  • Summary: Purchased in June 2014 and hooked it up as soon as it arrived. My first impression was it was very easy to hook up, that is where the good ended. Within a day we had already turned it off and back on twice. And in the 4 months we have been using it we have to turn the router off at least one usually twice a day. I am tempted to go back to my old router just so I can have the pleasure of taking a rubber mallet to this and beating it to tiny pieces.

I hate it

J. Ewing, Amazon
3 October 2014
  • Summary: Spent hours trying to get it to work. Many hours on the phone with netgear and a replacement sent. Working now but signal "poor" in my 1400 sq ft house. Fan super loud. Haven't spent the time trying to get the disk drive working. Would not recommend.

When it's up it's great... Other times not so much!!

Tony S "Strange Brew", Amazon
16 September 2014
  • Summary: When this thing is up it is very fast and has a strong wireless signal... That is where my praises end. What a piece of garbage! I love the idea of having attached storage and streaming but this thing does not like to stay connected to internet. Another selling point for me was the implementing the parental controls, too bad I never got far enough with it to utilize that feature. It isn't like my modem or internet setup is some obscure setup either.

Don't waste your money!!

PRV1000, Amazon
12 September 2014
  • Summary: I purchased this Netgear WNDR4700 and a Seagate 2 tb disk for backups in January 2014 from Amazon. It worked fine until It stopped connecting to the internet on April 15th. I spent at least 10 hours with their so-called technical support to fix a problem that was obviously the Router, because after completely re-configuring it twice, it still would not connect to the internet. I finally connected my old Netgear WNDR3700 to the same Internet cable and it works fine.

Waste of $$ - Noisy, Sluggish, Temperamental with Tons of Nag-Ware. Weird form-factor. Already Looking for a Replacement.

Midwesterner, Amazon
17 August 2014
  • Summary: I've been very disappointed with this router. It's noisy and has a weird form-factor (sits very tall and wide, on sort of a slant, with buttons/switches/ports in odd places) which makes it a "bad neighbor" with other components on our network shelf. It's sluggish -- *sometimes* we'll get great performance, *sometimes* we get < 10% of the usual download speed, *sometimes* devices cannot see/connect at all while others are connected just fine.

External USB HDD compatibility issues

Mark S, Amazon
1 August 2014
  • Summary: I purchased the Centria because it apparently offered the ability to centralize my network storage and backup solutions without having to have external HDD devices attached to a PC. However, upon trying to attach an external 4-bay HDD device via the USB 3.0 port, I quickly discovered that the Centria would not detect 2 of 4 drives, and would not provide file access to 1 of the 2 it did detect.

Worked well for a couple months REVISED

Gerry, Amazon
23 July 2014
  • Summary: Worked fine for a couple months then it kept losing wifi on all my Windows and Ipad devices even though the wifi light was solid blue. I would reboot according to net gear instructions and it would stay on for a few minutes to a few hours then I would lose the connection again. I tried various suggestions on the Netgear website but they didn't seem to help. Put an older Netgear router back into service and it has been performing well.

Maroof Jahangir, Amazon
20 July 2014
  • Summary: What I got was a new item but from a very old stock, Mine was manufactured 2 years ago. When I called Customer on a issue they refused until they could verify the purchase date, In concept it sounded great I could have used it as an external back up, but there must be a reason no one pursued this line of product WD also had a similar item but the same thing is was from 2012, no newer versions, in either Netgear or WD
