When it's up it's great... Other times not so much!!

Summary: When this thing is up it is very fast and has a strong wireless signal... That is where my praises end. What a piece of garbage! I love the idea of having attached storage and streaming but this thing does not like to stay connected to internet. Another selling point for me was the implementing the parental controls, too bad I never got far enough with it to utilize that feature. It isn't like my modem or internet setup is some obscure setup either.
Waste of $$ - Noisy, Sluggish, Temperamental with Tons of Nag-Ware. Weird form-factor. Already Looking for a Replacement.

Summary: I've been very disappointed with this router. It's noisy and has a weird form-factor (sits very tall and wide, on sort of a slant, with buttons/switches/ports in odd places) which makes it a "bad neighbor" with other components on our network shelf. It's sluggish -- *sometimes* we'll get great performance, *sometimes* we get < 10% of the usual download speed, *sometimes* devices cannot see/connect at all while others are connected just fine.
Summary: I purchased the Centria because it apparently offered the ability to centralize my network storage and backup solutions without having to have external HDD devices attached to a PC. However, upon trying to attach an external 4-bay HDD device via the USB 3.0 port, I quickly discovered that the Centria would not detect 2 of 4 drives, and would not provide file access to 1 of the 2 it did detect.
Summary: Worked fine for a couple months then it kept losing wifi on all my Windows and Ipad devices even though the wifi light was solid blue. I would reboot according to net gear instructions and it would stay on for a few minutes to a few hours then I would lose the connection again. I tried various suggestions on the Netgear website but they didn't seem to help. Put an older Netgear router back into service and it has been performing well.
In concept it sounded great I could have used it as an external back ...

Summary: What I got was a new item but from a very old stock, Mine was manufactured 2 years ago. When I called Customer on a issue they refused until they could verify the purchase date, In concept it sounded great I could have used it as an external back up, but there must be a reason no one pursued this line of product WD also had a similar item but the same thing is was from 2012, no newer versions, in either Netgear or WD
Summary: Does not work After long calls to tech support it was decided that it is a bad unit It does not allow you to enter the setup screen built int the box I you can't do that , you can't use it I just had time today to install it as I was traveling, now it is too late to return it according to amazon return policy Also it is too light to use as a door stop...
noise! fan noise! never buy this router for home or quiet office!!
5 January 2014
Summary: It"s midnight and the noise of the fan is killing me. The wifi range is not better than normal router. Everything is the same except the outstanding noise, the fan noise. Had it delivered to South Korea. Return cost would be too much. would like show you how the sound is ridiculous!! going to the storage shelf soon.
Summary: I really wanted to like this product. The feature of having a hard drive always connected to the internet (personal cloud) without a computer and without paying a monthly fee really sounds great. However, even though the hardware is great, the software (ReadyShare and Netgear Genie) is beyond horrible. It tries to be user friendly but all it can do is reminding you how ugly and slow and inefficient softwares were 20 years ago!! You don't believe me?
Summary: I purchased this router specifically for the internal drive feature. Well... IT DOESN'T WORK!!! Oh, it worked okay for a few days, but then files just started disappearing. Here today, gone tomorrow. Additionally, the device isn't even reliable as a router! At least 2 or 3 times a week, I have to power the device off and back on just to re-establish network connections.
Summary: I purchased this NetGear router to replace a 4-year old Linksys. Initial thoughts: 1) Setup is generally easy, the menus are nice and self-explanatory 2) The guest network feature works well. 3) Have had no problems with throughput or wireless connectivity. Cons: 1) The Netgear has a fan and it's not quiet. Generates more noise than my PC fan. It's very irritating. 2) The box is an odd shape and the cables attach in the side, not the back, so they're in the way.
