not happy

falla, Amazon
  • Summary: Set up was not hard. The problem was the performance; my bandwidth dropped from previous router and also continuously lost connectivity with router on the hardwired and wireless devices. I have bought refurbish devices before, first time I had to return one.

Seriously, this is garbage.

Trevor Chadwick, Amazon

  • Summary: Dead on arrival like so many others have reported. Don't order this unless your idea of a good time is spending a fruitless evening ruining some poor tech support persons day while you both grow more frustrated.

Very Dissatisfied

RG "RG", Amazon
28 January 2015
  • Summary: I was very dissatisfied with this product and the lack of tech support for it. This router was not a WNDR4500 model and was not certified refurbished. This product is an R4500 which has been reported to be a line made for Costco. It did not work when I received it as the power light continued to blink green and never went steady green, which means corrupted firmware.

WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NETGEAR PRODUCT AGAIN

ddmsf1 "ddmsf1", Amazon
26 December 2014
  • Summary: THE PROMOTIONS FOR THIS UNIT SHOULD WARN THAT THE LANGUAGE USED IN ITS SETUP, AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR ITS ONGOING USE ARE NOT WRITTEN IN A LANGUAGE OR APPEAR IN A FORM INTENDED FOR THE CASUAL USER. The "Setup Genie" is a useless, insulting joke. I DO NOT KNOW HOW A PERSON WITHOUT A THOROUGH UNDERSTANDING OF ROUTERS COULD POSSIBLY SET THIS UP AND ACCESS FIRMWARE UPDATES "EASILY" AS SOME MISLEADING FIVE STAR REVIEWS CLAIM.

VPNers beware!

Gloria, Amazon
9 December 2014
  • Summary: This vendor shipped me the Costco model R4500 instead of the WNDR4500 model listed here. It would not even start out of the box due to corrupted firmware. Presumably someone had tried to flash it before and had killed it. I had to google how to manually tftp a R4500 firmware (downloaded from Netgear) onto it using ethernet cable before it would boot. (Google for instructions).
