Summary: This item worked as described, although I had issues with it randomly loosing wifi connection and re-establishing. The distance between the router and the adapter is about 30ft. All other devices working of the router are able to function reliably at greater distances.
good for basic data transfer but not for streaming
24 November 2013
Summary: This item worked and could probably be used for some applications but it did not really meet my needs. I purchased this to connect my home audio system to my home network and the internet for streaming music.
Summary: .. one performed flawlessly .. one doesn't work at all .. one needs to be power cycled from time to time. I've not installed the fourth yet. Still, I like the form factor (very small) and the USB power cable that comes with it. Beats the hell out of running cable.
Summary: I bought this to place an older printer onto my wifi network. Overall this device seems to work fine. However a stupid design decision by Netgear was to invent a custom USB power cable for powering the device. This means that if you need a shorter or longer cable, you are out of luck.
netgear wnce2001 v sony wifi dongle for bravia tv does not work
14 June 2011
Summary: I purchased NETGEAR WNCE2001 Universal WiFi Internet Adapter because I did web searches to see if it was compatible with my new sony bravia ex723. The opinion was that it would work. It does not work although I had a problem with mine where I had to hold the connection in for it to work.
Summary: This device is easy enough to deploy and manage, but the range is poor. We use this device to get wifi to our TiVo (which for some stupid reason has an Ethernet port and no wifi). It deploys really easily, basically just plug and go. But the range is poor.
Summary: This unit refuses to work with a signal that any laptop would report as 3 bars. It needs a good signal to perform and so at best you are extending your network only incrementally with this thing. The drop off in where it can and can't perform with regard to distance is truly stunning.
Summary: I have the refurbished version. After 8 months, the blinking yellow power light came on. Apparently this happens when the firmware is corrupted. Please go to http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum/viewtopic.php?post_id=88168 to see how to reflash the firmware.
Summary: I initially had trouble getting this device to find my home network and connect, so I called Netgear to see if they could help. They informed me that they can only do email support with refurbished items, and the person on the phone refused to help me at all.
Summary: This product had the promise of great things - a universal device that would work with both my Samsung Smart TV AND my Sony Blu-ray player and quite a bit cheaper than brand specific equivalents. Sadly, I couldn't get it to work.
