Excerpt: This router was purchased because our previous router did not cover all parts of our home and the number of devices we can have working at any given time. We purchased the NETGEAR N600 Dual Band WiFi DSL Modem Router ADSL2+, Gigabit Ethernet DGND3700 by Netgear with the hope of filling that voids in both range of coverage and number of devices.
Excerpt: Skip this product. Out of the box could not getconnected to the internet even with the wired (ethernet)connection! I had to call Netgear tech. support and they could notfigure out why I had no IP address. The device could not find anaddress. I eventually found the problem.....It was set for astatic IP address. Duh! What is sad is the Netgear Tech. did notfigure that one out. After all of this mess, I could not get astrong wifi signal in the next room from the router.
Cons: Difficult To Set Up, Does Not Want To Connect, Slow Connection Speed, Wifi Range Is Very Short
Excerpt: Very frustrating. The signal strength for both bands is weak when trying to pick it up on another floor in the house. It minimizes the value of wireless if the user needs to stay in the same room. I thought I was getting an upgrade from my single band wireless router four years ago. Now I continue to spend hours trying to understand and configure channels to strengthen the signal.
Excerpt: Had problems connecting to the internet with this. Called NetGear support, reached a call center in Philippines, they walked me through the set up and I was up and running. A lot of the factory default settings had to be changed. Had to reset the modem a few days later. After resetting, all of the bad factory defaults were restored, could not access the internet. Called NetGear support, was transferred to a call center in India.
Cons: Difficult To Set Up, Slow Connection Speed, Unreliable connection
Excerpt: I recently purchased this unit hoping to improve my internet speed by updating my modem and also getting wireless capability. Setup was easy except for the fact that I had to use the Westell modem provided by Verizon, because they told me that their system only operates with Westell. So if anyone's planing on purchasing this unit, they should call their provider to confirm they are able to use a different modem. Ended up just getting the Netgear WNDR3700 router.
Excerpt: I bought my DGND3700 the day it came out since I had been a very happy owner of a WNDR3700 and thought it would work just as well. The router functions of your product worked pretty well and I don't have any complaints there because whatever bugs are there are small enough that I can wait for a firmware update. My problem is with the DSL modem aspect of it, and how Netgear's technical team deals with issues. The modem: 1.
Pros: Highly Compatible, Secure, Small
Cons: Hard to setup, Limited 5GHz range, Unreliable
Had problems connecting between wired and wireless devices. Ended up returning it.

Summary: I bought this after my old Linksys WAG54G stopped being able to save changes. Unfortunately things did not go well. Periodically, this N300 would stop routing network traffic between the wired and wireless networks, so my laptop and phone couldn't talk to my home NAS or server. When this happened, the only way to get the networks talking again was to turn the router off and on again.
