Sometimes the internet won't even start, and other times it cuts out in the middle of a session. While we are able to turn off the power on the modem, wait for a while, and get connectivity back (usually within ten minutes), we have a lot of lost productivity by having to leave whatever we were doing and wait for what amounts to a re-boot of the...

Problems with Windows *.X

Exasperated consumer, Staples
2 January 2014
  • Excerpt: The included install disk had an old driver that caused an error when attempting to connect to a network under Win 8.0. Had to download and install the beta driver from NetGear's site. From various searches, it seems that this is a common issue and complaint.

Lower your expectations

Average User, Staples
1 March 2013
  • Excerpt: Reason: I bought a new preconfigured desktop PC with Windows 8. It did not come with a wireless card so I focused on buying a USB wireless adapter. Decision: I was just going to get something as cheap as I could find. Talking to a sale person and reading the different boxes/information, they indicated the cheapest ones may have speed and range issues.
  • Cons: Difficult To Set Up, Slow Connection Speed

Try Another Brand

Allan, Staples
5 January 2013
  • Excerpt: Skip this product. Out of the box could not get connected to the internet even with the wired (ethernet) connection! I had to call Netgear tech. support and they could not figure out why I had no IP address. The device could not find an address. I eventually found the problem.....It was set for a static IP address. Duh! What is sad is the Netgear Tech. did not figure that one out.
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Difficult To Set Up, Does Not Want To Connect, Slow Connection Speed, Wifi Range Is Very Short
