Excerpt: This router would not connect to new cable internet install. Two cable install techs worked and finally got an internet connection through the router after a very long time. After they had to restart to complete the installation, the internet connection through the Netgear router was once again lost and they could not restore it. After they left I was on the phone with Netgear for two hours. They were very helpful, but couldn't get a connection.
Excerpt: First off, the product is a little misleading, as both myself and the IT guys in the store thought this would work with my local fiber on the ADSL 2+ port, which it does not. I cannot get the USB to recognize any device I plug into it, including a printer and 3 hard drives. Range is mediocre and I ended up using a repeater to extend it to the point where I would have good speed where I normally sit.
Excerpt: This is an excellent product, with one single massive problem. First the good news, and the reason you want to go with the later/newer routers from Netgear. The guest networking is extremely useful. My wife works at home and seems to get viruses/malware on her computer far too often. With guest networking I can segregate her to her own guest network and restrict her machine from accessing anything else on the home network.
Excerpt: The modem works less than half the time, mostly in the middle of the night when everyone sleeps. I use online banking, address and contact books, calendar, photo banks--almost everything is online. I am not able to get to what I need when I need it.When the modem does work, it's only for a short time. It stops connecting and there's no telling if it will connect again today.I have never had such an unreliable internet connection. This was a waste of money!
Excerpt: After using for about 3 weeks I realized how poor the range was. Most of my network is wired but I wanted this to use with 3 smart phones and a video box. I found that reliable service range was less than 30 feet for the phones and my sons laptop would not work from his bedroom, also about 30 feet. The old G band router that this replaced had failed after 5 years of use had a range of well over 100ft.My experience with Netgear customer service was not good either.
Cons: Lack Of Support, Poor Range, Unreliable connection
Excerpt: Had trouble getting the computer to recognize the IP address. I had to call Netgear's tech. support line to get help getting online. Actually I found the problem after the tech. directed me to the correct menu however, he had no idea how to fix the problem. After I was able to resolve that issue, I then could not get a strong wifi signal throughout my home. Just two rooms away, I could only get a weak-to-fair signal.
Excerpt: I purchased this product on 12/29/12 and was pleased with the initial setup. However, when I attempted to browse web pages on 3 different iPads and 1 iPad Mini I noticed that web-pages would never fully or were very slow to load. I promptly called the support number listed on the side of the router. After about a 30 minute hold time I was greeted by a support rep. His first request was the serial number. I read it off to him.
Excerpt: Very easy to set up. Should have increased my surfing speeds but it was slow. My previous n150 was just as good. After about 15 days the dsl portion stopped working. Since it was over 15 days, Staples would NOT replace the product.
Excerpt: I expected the N600 to provide faster better quality performance on my network of computers than the N300 which I replaced. It has worked just the opposite. I believe I will put the N300 back in service or replace the Netgear with a different brand. I was looking foreward to a good experience. It didn't happen.
