OK product, absolutely terrible product support.

lrleslie, CNET
10 April 2013
  • Summary: A bad support group comes about because of bad management - management that just isn't concerned about their customers. Probably starts at the top.
  • Pros: When it works, it's great but when it doesn't and you need support, you're better of trying to teach a pig to sing -- wastes your time and annoys the pid.
  • Cons: World's worst product support - no product knowledge, no customer empathy, irrational responses and they seem to doctor their logs to hide some of the silly assertions they make., AVOID!

get a Wireless-N for about the same price, you'll be better off

maverickny, Ebay
18 October 2012
  • Summary: The WGT624 is a solid working wireless-G router with all the standard features, but many people are misled about some of it's features.. the router is capable of wireless rates upto 108mbps.. but only if you use a Netgear 108mbps adapter card on your computer. the 108MBPS speeds also only work on wireless channel 6, which is a commonly used 'default' channel for wireless, and usually swamped with interferance because of this..

Super Wi-Fi, Great Staight Up coverage

9 September 2012
  • Excerpt: Netgear WGT-624 router comes with 4 Ethernet ports that I connected with a network printer, a switch to expand additional 8 ports, a local networked computer, and a internet phone interface for making cheap phone calls. The set up is easy with browser interface.  You can change basic and advance settings right from the router base address 192.168.0.1.  Make sure that you change the password to secure the WiFi setting and preserve your bandwidth.

Good Router but a 6 month life

fischware, Viewpoints

  • Excerpt: This is a good router when it works.  Easy to setup, easy to do everything else.  My first one failed at 6 months.  My second one failed at 6 months.  My third one failed at 6 months.  My new router is a different brand & model and is not as easy but I haven't had to touch it in over a year.  My routers are always on so I don't know if the heat got to this or not.  I only paid $25 for them; I could've had one for less than $75 that was still working though.

  • Excerpt: I've been using this modem for over 3 years now and have never had a single problem.  I use it both wired, direct to my main PC, and wirelessly to my laptop and the media center PC.It has everything you could possibly need, including 108Mbps transfer speed over wireless network, both USB and LAN connections, 4 wired outputs, and was a bargain to boot, compared to competitor products.

solid and dependable

  • Excerpt: Before we went wireless in this house, people would tell us "just be ready to replace your router about every year". Well, with the Netgear WGT624 wireless router my husband and I purchsed, there have been NO issues. It's been running steady for 3 years now without a glitch. We have 2 PC's connected at all times, and when I, or our son comes home with laptops, we hook right up. Don't be folled or scared, just go out and get wireless with Netgear.
