Excerpt: I am not overly impressed with the strength of signal. I was told that dual band would be stronger. I cannot get my printer to pick up the second band. I had a d-link n router that i feel was just as good. It just displeases me that I paid $170 and got nothing more that what I already had.
Summary: I've had several Netgear routers. I bought this one for the range and the USB drive storage feature and DLNA. The only issue I have had is that I have to occasionally reboot the router because the WiFi networking stops after a few days. Its intermittent. I've also had to do this with other Netgear routers. If they had a "reboot automatically" feature like their VPN routers, this would probably solve the problem. The range and performance is good.
Excerpt: Tried this router after having connection problems with netgear wdr4300. Many hours spent trying to configure it to no avail so tried the R6100 which worked well except the wired Ethernet ports are only 100mb/s. The staples specification displayed is incorrect. The USB port worked well with a printer attached and the connection was reliable. The R6100 is a decent router if you don't need high performance to wired server or an ISP.
Excerpt: ...needs to be reset/rebooted occasionally. And the iPad/iPhone app doesn't allow you to do this when the router is confused. (Why else would you need to reset it from the iPhone? Eliminate the button on the app.) I will check coverage when I need to use iPad and/or iPhone in the backyard when the snow melts.
Excerpt: Great Black Friday sale so I purchased this Netgear router with little research on it. I found it very easy to setup and I liked its fast speed. However, it kept dropping my internet connection in part of my house. After trying it for two weeks I finally returned it to the store and reconnected my old router. I will research other routers before making another selection.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Fast Connection Speed, Secure Connection
Excerpt: I owned a netgear WGT624 v2 for many years and it worked great. As an administrator for a small business network I especially liked the emailing of the log feature. this R6300 has this feature but the log information took a very large backward step. the WGT624 would show every website accessed and by whom with the time. this allowed me to PROVE inappropriate usage and correct the problem. The R6300 does NOT show the website!! only that access was granted.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Fast Connection Speed, Reliable connection, Secure Connection
Summary: Like many, I bought this router because I thought high price meant the best router. And it did seem like that at first. I was getting 260 Mbps wireless as opposed to only 80 Mbps on an 18 month old N router. Unfortunately I soon discovered other issues with it. 5 Ghz wireless had massive packetloss (25%), and opening up a regular web page with the router would take 2 seconds via 5Ghz compared to instant without the router.
