Excerpt: It is faster than the Netgear GS116 but as fast as the Dell switches made by Netgear. The price are different. This switch is great for the price but online or other stores you can find it cheaper. I was in a rush to get a new one since my old netgear GS116 died and i need one ASAP.
Excerpt: I needed more than a dozen, not sure whether I needed more or less than 16 ports, so I went all the way to 24 so I wouldn't run out of ports AGAIN!I had a legacy system connected to DSL and a new one connected to Charter Cable Internet so I needed to have a SINGLE RJ45 / CAT6 cable to plug from one...
Cons: Unbelievably glitchy piece of equipment. After installing this switch we observed serious degradation of network throughput and traced it to this unit. As far as I'm concerned it is broken, seriously broken.
Excerpt: The Netgear ProSafe 24 port Switch is one of the best switches I have ever bought. All you have to do is plug the power cord in. Then plug in the Patch cord to your modem from the switch. Then you are able to use any port on the switch you want without programing. In other words PLUG and PLAY!
Summary: .....except when a client of mine was struck by lightning. But Netgear quickly came to the rescue and shipped a new unit out overnight. Previously, I had been a DLink fanboi for all small business networking products.
Pros: Price is great. Warranty is outstanding. Does what its supposed to without whining or needing constant reboots.
Cons: Nothing. Purchased at least 40 of these over the past few years and never had an issue.....
