  1. Device is a switch, not a router

Contrary to one of the other reviews, this is a switch, not a router. I have had mine for a while (longer then the warranty) and have had at least one port go bad. Others seem to continue to work. I have both 1GB and 10/100 devices connected. Read more

Plug in the power and plug-in your network cables... that's it. The wall wart is compact and doesn't hog up the powerstrip. Read more

This Gigabit switch as well as the other Netgear Gigabit switches work great! I have replaced a few dozen Linksys Gigabit switches in the past year and will never buy Linksys again. They are dropping like flies! Thankfully I found these fantastic Netgear Gigabit switches. My customers and I thank you Netgear! If you want to see a picture of about 10 Linksys switches that I replaced over the last few weeks just click the link. Read more

    • Works like you would expect and looks nice. The little stand works well if you have one that sits in a desk or shelf.
    • The GS6 series does not have a wallmount option but the GS1 series does so that works. The lights are a little too bright if you have it sitting in front of you.

  5. "Perfect 8 port switch"

I am not sure why any one would buy any other 8 port 10/100 switch when there is this beauty on the market. The unit makes no noise because it has no fan; it runs cool on its own. The unit has a big buffer and gigabit Ethernet so it is fast and future friendly even if you don’t use gigabit nics yet. I have run this switch with a wide range of cards and other switches on the network and no problems with compatibility at all. Read more

  6. Great little network switch,

This switch has been a great addition to my network . It allows for fast transfer sppeds and i have been using for over 3 months now with no problems. Unluckily it is not wall mountable which would have been useful, but it comes with some legs which can be used to stand it on its side. The lights on the front are very useful for indicating whether the connected device is operating at 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps. Read more
