Summary: Great switch. I have 4 of these throughout my house. I'm using this with a GS724T and am using VLANing to separate my chatty IPTV devices from my home computer networks. This allows me to make sure my TV and Computers don't effect one another. These units are great, I have no issues with any of these and they work as designed.
Very good value so far - here is my experience with these

Summary: My overall feature usage of these switches is limited so I can't say that everything works perfectly, but I will share what I do know. Feel free to comment if you feel otherwise. With limited non-enterprise funds, I purchased the 8-port version of this switch and its bigger brother 24-port version (amazingly inexpensive at the time). After 2 years, these switches have not let me down.
Summary: I'm a networking professional but needed something economical for my church that supports VLANs with low port counts for remote parts of the facility. I picked up three of these. It took a little figuring out of how they did the VLANs (switch GUIs vary widely among models even with a mfg line) but this packs a lot of configuration options for a low price. So far so good. It even came with the most recent firmware, which is kind of unusual.
Summary: I wanted a switch that was SNMP managed and could do port mirroring. This one does so much more. Very happy with the performance and how easy it is to configure. Even did a firmware upgrade and no problems. Glad I purchased this one.
Overall, a great little switch, especially for the money!

Summary: This is really quite a fine little switch for the above-average home network or very small business network, especially given its fairly low price. I use it at home, primarily because I was looking for a switch that can handle 802.1q tags, and this little guy does that as well as some other features not found on your average switch.
Summary: I previously had a gigabit D-Link switch next to my router. there was lag and slow transfer times. had to reboot every week. installed the netgear and all my problems were solved. right out of the box it worked flawlessly.
Summary: In the early days of our home network (we're talking a network behind MS Proxy 2.0 connecting to the Internet via bonded dialup) I went through a great many switches. Belkin, Netgear, D-Link, several Linksys, and probably others I don't even remember. All of them had a relatively short lifespan, and even when they did work, they were plagued by reboots, hangs, dead ports, and the like.
Summary: I don't think you can do better for an 8 port switch if you need features like VLANs and Spanning Tree Protocol. I work as an IT consultant and I've installed several of these over the last 6 months and had no issues and great performance. Works great for hardwiring Sonos music systems and cool tricks like using a single switch for WAN and LAN connections. Very satisfied and would definitely buy again.
