Summary: Worth every penny. My small network was based off a wireless router that just couldn't cut it bandwidth wise being an older 10/100 product. 10 was more like it between hard wired computers. This cured THAT problem big time. Large file transfers are now in the 100 to 160 MBPS range.
Pros: Once you set it up, you can forget about it. Does what it's supposed to seamlessly.
Cons: I would have put the link LED's on the other side.
Summary: It's a simple switch, the only requirements I have are that it doesn't lock up constantly. This unit has not doe so yet, and the last one I had lasted about 6 years before it had at done it once.
Pros: This switch is rock solid, I have never had any problems with it. I have never had to reset it because it locked up. The physical construction is solid and won't break easily of something falls on it.
Summary: The product works without a glitch. I use it to connect my printer and home theater components to LAN. The rebate turns out to be a scam that will cancel out the warranty altogether. They require you to send in the original UPC label.
Summary: I have used Netgear for many years, routers, switches and none of them have broken. So, this first failure(in one year) took me by surprise. I would have given a 5 star, but the relatively short lifespan put it down 2 eggs.
Pros: Plugged it in and it found my Netgear router. It worked flawlessly out of the box.
Cons: it worked just 2 weeks more than one year, and one port just stopped working. I use all 8 ports, so this hurt my network. I need all 8 ports.
Excerpt: The netgear ProSafe 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Plus Switch GS108E by Netgear is well packaged and easily installed item. After installation the network gigabit speeds are maintained and all attached devices easily connect up using the 1000bps connection.
Pros: Fast, easy to setup, and can be placed nearly anywhere. I've been using this for over a year now and there hasn't been a single issue. Gigabit transfers on the local network is sure worth this low cost.
Excerpt: Installed this a few months ago and have been happy with its performance. I connect a wireless access point to this switch (to extend wi-fi) and it seems to be working perfectly. I haven't used the QoS controls yet but they seem straightforward.
Summary: Great little device if you need to give yourself some more connections on a small home network or around an office. These are dumb switches so put them behind a router and they will do their job.
Pros: This little switch functions properly even after almost a year of abuse in my home office I am creating. I like that it has a sturdy metal case. Well worth it especially since it was on sale at the time. A great unmanaged switch.
Excerpt: I couldn't access any files on our server so I wasn't able to get any work done. Since I was waiting anyway for a computer repair person to arrive I drove to Staples and purchased a new Netgear ProSAFE ethernet desktop switch. I thought I'd at least have it on hand in case the tech needed it.
