Excerpt: I've used these switches to move computers away from our wireless network to a wired connection, due to possible security issues. They are easy to configure, and seem to be working well so far. The only problem I've had (with the 5 port switch version) is incompatibility with HP Wireless Printers (neither NetGear or HP could resolve the issue).
Summary: my netgear program from my router still works with it. took the router out and put the gs 108 in line and and it is like and instant start up in comparison to my router hooked up and having to wait for the router to recognize my dsl.
Excerpt: We have a mix of PC and Linux. This system performs well, although the configuration utility is only for a Windows platform. Config is great. Too bad the earlier GS108's can't be configured with the same utility as the GS108E. Great switch.
Excerpt: This feels like a step up from the plastic external case of my linksys. I have to buy switches about every 5 years. This is the first time I broke from Linksys. I needed to void the warranty and open them up and vacuum them out to stop them from overheating. This Netgear has no fan and feels very cool to the touch, so the heat issue is defiantly resolved.
Excerpt: Great for the price. Netgear sells another very similar product for $15 more but I see no reason to spend the extra money. My primary use for this is LAN gaming at home with friends and we had very little issue with lag.
