Summary: Good simple switch with some basic configuration options.
Pros: This is a great switch. Netgear quality always comes through.
Cons: This really needs a web interface instead of requiring a Windows binary. I often do network setups from my laptop running Linux. If I need to set anything on these switches I have to reboot into Windows.
Pros: The switch works great for an IPTV network where you need to filter IGMP/multicast packets from flooding your network. With the latest firmware, it can successfully filter multicast from a U-Verse network. I'm sure it works with other IPTV networks that use IGMP as well. To get IGMP snooping (espescially v3), you normally have to buy expensive managed switches designed for businesses, whereas this is a great inexpensive solution that is basically plug and play (unmana...
Cons: There is no web interface to configure the limited options, but since it's unmanaged except for a few configurations, this isn't a big deal. Just install the software and configure once and you are good to go.
Excerpt: Set up is plug and play, no special experience or knowledge needed, I installed this to get extra ethernet connections for a second computer and network printer, a perfect solution, no software installation needed as an un-managed switch or install the included software to use it as a managed switch. It has advanced features to prioritize network traffic and Virtual LAN support for Quality of Service (QoS) and port mirroring purposes.
Pros: Easily Expanded, Easy To Set Up, Fast, Reliable, Small
