Summary: This switch works fine for what I needed. I don't know that it is worth the extra money over the GS105. For what I needed I could have saved some money if I purchased the non "E" version. I own both now and they both work very well.
Basically an unmanagable mess for anything but windows users (and even then, not great).

Summary: I would recommend buying another product, this one is little better than an unmanaged switch and seems to have serious security issues upon testing. Great for carry and go, but for long term use anywhere.. no.
Summary: I love this little switch! It is the best option out there when it comes to small five and eight ports switches. Besides providing gigabit speed, having power saving features, it also can be managed! you can set QOS on this! no switch like this out there offers this function. Construction is great as usual with this Netgear type of product. Buy it, you will not regret it!
It works, sort of, but is still a waste of your money

Summary: (Disclaimer: I'm already bitter about Netgear, because I owned a WGT624 wireless router, and the thing would literally die and need to be reset every two weeks. But, I was told, Netgear's ProSafe products are better, they're more professional-grade, and they just work. Well, ha.) I bought this GS105E "unmanaged plus" switch a month ago. Let me tell you, as an unmanaged switch, it works.
Summary: I purchased this switch so that I can use port mirroring and monitor my home network. The initial setup required a Windows computer, which seems like a horrible design. Although, once I set it up, I was able to move it around with no problem. This is an awesome switch for someone wanting to manage it, considering that it is advertised as 'unmanaged.
Summary: While the switch does require propriatary software to configure, I think this is better security than the typical web based solutions. The switch provides a sub-set of managed switch features at a significant reduction in price. The VLAN ability is great for Home Offices and Small Offices to insure that connections are not impacted by ''games'' or ''streaming'' activities.
Summary: I bought this product because I only have one network cable running to my upstairs office but still wanted to have IPTV and Internet access in that room. Setting up two separate VLANs with VLAN tagging over the shared UTP cable is a breeze with this device. It even offers QoS, in my case to prioritise TV traffic, in order to avoid any stutter caused by heavy traffic over the LAN network.
Summary: I purchased this model although I knew that all I really needed was an unmanaged gigabyte switch. I've had good success with NetGear switches & routers over the years. It's a rugged little metal box which stays put on a shelf, unlike some of the lighter plastic-cased models. Unmanaged it just sits there and does it's thing, allowing me to minimize the load on my router's radios - I have a slightly more than basic home network with televisions and Roku box and cameras and...
