Summary: This device periodically drops the Internet connection and must be powered off then back on and go through initialization to regain Internet access. I updated to the latest firmware and changed parameters recommended by Netgear support but it still drops the internet connection.
Summary: It keeps on getting disconnected every day. Especially at the start of the day, we lose internet connection and then even access to our network files. I got this in January and I can't return this for a refund.
Summary: We bought one of these for use in our office network. It never performed well when connected to our cable modem. We have 130Mbps cable modem service. The port on the cable modem is 1Gbps. It performed decently when upstream was connected to a 1Gbps netgear GS108.
Summary: Continuously drops the WAN connection; over 6 hours today 7 WAN port drops requiring a reboot of the device. I was worried about using another NETGEAR appliance as past experience indicates that you get what you pay for. Spend more and get a better appliance, this is garbage.
Summary: Spent hours trying to get it to work reliably. Updated the firmware. Would work for a few hours or so, then the VPN tunnel would repeatedly fail. Then the Internet connection would stop working. Save yourself hours of frustration and buy something else.
Summary: I purchased this router to give me a permanent VPN tunnel to my work location as well as to have gigabit speeds on the local network. After using two different FWG114P (v1 & v2) wireless routers and a FVS318 router with no problems at all, I thought this was a safe purchase.
Summary: This machine is absolute garbage. You will be tied up with Netgear's Tech. Support for the next three months because your internet connection will just drop. They will have you upgrade firmware, etc. When the three mos. is up, they will drop you like a bad habit.
Summary: I bought this router because my Charter Technician recommended Netgear over Linksys. The internet speed was awesome but beware of all the warnings about dropping connect because they are true. My other staff had their LAN connections drop several times a day even after the firmware update.
