out of time

pi2r, Amazon
8 December 2014
  • Summary: I bought one of these from Frys in 2005, tried to use it, was never able to get it to run and can't get it to run to this day. Specs are feature packed and price was very competitive at the time.

If your internet is over 10Mb don't bother.

Themachinist, Amazon
19 October 2013
  • Summary: The WAN (or internet) port tops out at 11Mb and averages less than that. No new firmware for 3 years so Im guessing its not going to change.

reread the data spec sheet very very carefully

sue, Amazon
20 June 2013
  • Summary: It has 8 ports, okay. But only 5 users can really access stuff across the VPN. In fact as it turns out it will so severely limit your access speed that it's not worth any savings you may obtain.

Netgear FVS318v3

CompuTS "Trust me, I know.", Amazon
25 April 2013
  • Summary: The Netgear FVS318v3 may seem like a great option for users with the need for many ports, but beware! The FVS318v3 loses connectivity TOO OFTEN. Every few minutes, it seems like, I must reset the router (switch off, switch on) to get it working again.

Terrible! Terrible!

Robert Ruiz "Robert0", Amazon
22 April 2013
  • Summary: This thing will slow down your connection speed, browsing speed, everything. The processor is to slow. Not even worth the $89. Don't waste your money. I have purchased and used MANY routers/firewalls. This has to be the worst on thus far.

Unit is as advertised

Mike, Amazon
30 November 2012
  • Summary: Unit works as advertised; however, the seller marketed this unit as "New", when in fact it was not! Inner packaging was missing and there was product registration materials that did not belong to this unit or any other unit sold by NETGEAR. I give the NETGEAR product 5 stars. Firewall works great!

Absolute garbage - zero stars

P. Salanova, Amazon
1 June 2011
  • Summary: I have version 3 of this router, it is horrendously slow: downloading from the internet on my linksys router goes at about 1.2 Mb/s, with this one, it's more like 200 kb/s. Transferring files from computer to computer goes at 1 Mb/s - slower than downloading from the internet with my other router!
