Summary: I bought one of these from Frys in 2005, tried to use it, was never able to get it to run and can't get it to run to this day. Specs are feature packed and price was very competitive at the time.
Summary: It has 8 ports, okay. But only 5 users can really access stuff across the VPN. In fact as it turns out it will so severely limit your access speed that it's not worth any savings you may obtain.
Summary: The Netgear FVS318v3 may seem like a great option for users with the need for many ports, but beware! The FVS318v3 loses connectivity TOO OFTEN. Every few minutes, it seems like, I must reset the router (switch off, switch on) to get it working again.
Summary: This thing will slow down your connection speed, browsing speed, everything. The processor is to slow. Not even worth the $89. Don't waste your money. I have purchased and used MANY routers/firewalls. This has to be the worst on thus far.
Summary: Unit works as advertised; however, the seller marketed this unit as "New", when in fact it was not! Inner packaging was missing and there was product registration materials that did not belong to this unit or any other unit sold by NETGEAR. I give the NETGEAR product 5 stars. Firewall works great!

Summary: As a security consultant, I consult people everyday on the need for a solid defense-in-depth strategy to protecting their network resources from potential attacks. The same applies to your home networks!
Summary: I have version 3 of this router, it is horrendously slow: downloading from the internet on my linksys router goes at about 1.2 Mb/s, with this one, it's more like 200 kb/s. Transferring files from computer to computer goes at 1 Mb/s - slower than downloading from the internet with my other router!
