Summary: The unit is solidly built(steel enclosure), and works flawlessly like all my other Netgear switches. It's perfect for applications that need PoE to power Wireless access points, or for my purpose of powering and connecting a bunch of IP security cameras. A nice surprise was the price for this unit as it's much less than other PoE switches I looked into.
Summary: I purchased two for our new Voice over IP phone system and I works great! Took it straight out of the box, plugged it in and it's been working like a charm. No configuration, just plug and play. Please keep in mind that only 12 of the 24 ports are POE ports. We saved $2,000 by purchasing this product over a simular Nortel switch.
Summary: Excellent product. Just a simple plug and play. Quickly found our POE devices (cameras) and instantly provided the correct power. We were very concerned that there would be enough power for each camera and there was. The power requirement was Class 3 which means it had to provide 15 watts of available power per each POE port. (We were advised that this is very important.) It was hard to find a POE switch that provided the correct amount of wattage budget we required.
Summary: This switch is great. Solid build. BUT, it is very loud and cannot be used in a room that will have employees working. If you place it in a supply/server room its great. I went with 3 trendnet TPE-S44 that will give me 12 poe ports with no fans. There are devices you can mount inside to regulate fan speed but i didnt want to mess with that.
Summary: This switch is ideal for SOHO where POE is required and cost concerns are focussed on energy. I have six IP Phones running on the POE ports, and one WiFi access point. Regular network devices consume 11 more ports. The total AC draw is reading 54w on my UPS! This is quality equipment at a reasonable value.
Summary: I'm a wi-fi consultant and used this switch at a customer's site to power several Wi-Fi Access Points. Easy VLAN and trunking and straight forward browser based configuration. I'm going to use this model as my standard for PoE switch installations.
Summary: This piece of equipment is not only a reliable 24 port switch, it is almost a router. It provides QOS, DHCP, and many other functions routers provide. In addition, it gives you 12 ports of POE, which is probably as many as you would use in most applications. The management interface is very powerful, yet simple. For the price, nothing in the market touches it. Great job NetGear! I use mine for seven PCs and 12 VoIP phones with no problems. Highly recommended.
Summary: This switch is tough to beat at the price offered. (12) ports of PoE @100 watts total with a total of (24) 10/100 ports. (2) 10/100/1000 for backbone connection as well. I was able to connect it to my home LAN in the wiring rack then immediately manage it with it's built-in web services. I upgraded the switch to the latest firmware prior to any other efforts. Worked without a hitch!
