Summary: I have installed Blue Iris on a PC, managing a 4 camera Foscam system (a 9821V2, and three 8904 cameras). Many Blue Iris software supplied system management functions are being used, along with the configurability and control of the cameras, with great success.
Summary: I had a router that had 4 ethernet ports but as I continue to add additional items to my home network I found I needed more. This eight port ethernet switch does the job. At the time I purchased, included a rebate so was an even greater value than the regular price.
Summary: I needed more ports under the TV; internet connected devices seem to multiply on their own. This device uses the same power block so all I had to do was unplug the Cat5 cables and power plug from the old one and plug in the new one. Same footprint, same function...just great.
Summary: I've used several hublets and switches over the years. I have found I usually run short with a 4 port switch and now get 8 port even if I don't need that many now I know I eventually will. So far this has worked.
Summary: I bought this from Amazon on 8/15/2007. It worked fine until it started having an intermittent problem, where all 8 port lights come on for a second and then go out. All the computers and network equipment report that they are unplugged from the network.
Summary: This is a good little desktop switch but I'd recommend their Gigabit switch instead if you can spend just a little bit more. The gig switch offers more bang for the buck as long as you're using gigabit adapters and cables with it (which I am).
