I've had a Netgear wired router (RP114) for many years and never had any trouble with it, so when I ran out of availble ports, I bought this Netgear Fast Ethernet Switch. I just connected a port from my existing Netgear router to a port on this switch, then connected 2 computers to 2 other ports on the Netgear Fast Ethernet Switch and everything worked perfectly the 1st time. I would highly recommend this product as well as other Netgear products! Read more

There isn't really much to say about a switch, it has one simple job and as long as it does it that's what counts (A switch for those who are not certain is easiest to explain by saying it is akin to a power strip, you can plug all the machines you want into to it, but if you don't plug it into a managed source of signal such as a router or server it is like expecting a surge strip to provide power and work when it is not plugged into an AC outlet). I bought this product so I could run my other laptop from my LAN connection and It works like a charm. I haven't been able to see any slow down in my connection even when both pc's are downloading streamed material. The FS105 is a great product but beware of trying to get an advertized rebate from Netgear, which is one of the reasons why I chose this product. All I have been getting is the run-around from the service they use Prosafe rebates. Read more

We needed to extend a network without the inconvenience of pulling another cable from the wiring closet to an area where one machine already was stationed. The simplest route was to install the 5-port switch. The only concern that remained after installing it was whether there is a manufacturing defect--the power cable would not seat easily and twice, when the switch was repositioned, the power cable unseated itself and shut off the connectivity. If you have run out of network ports or need a small compact but high performance 100meg switch, you can't go far wrong with the Netgear FS105. It's a really well built piece of kit with a metal construction and will take the knocks and perform for years at a time. The weight of thing gives you confidence that decent quality components have been used and you really are getting what you pay for with this model. Read more

This product is easy to install. Just plug and play then it works. It runs flawlessly 24 hours a day and 7 days a week from day one and there is no any issue. I am pretty happy about this. However, the speed is not quite gigabit. It can reach over 100M but far away from 100M. Read more

I have used several of these for adding on desktops, NAS devices, and even a network Blu-ray player onto existing networks and I am still amazed at how well they work. I even use one in my shop for when I need to cram a few laptops onto one bench and have them all connected to the internet. Just plug and play. They are made of metal and have a real professional ''solid'' feel to them. Read more
