Speeded up my DSL from the old modem and what a price !

sjmelena, Ebay

  • Summary: My ISP recently switched from 5Mbps to 10Mbps for the standard rate. I found I wasn't even getting the 5Mbps. The techs suggested changing out the modem. Of course you can pay for the ISPs modem for the rest of your life or buy one. I ended up buying three of these. One for my DSL line, a backup and one for a neighbor. They worked perfectly. I use them in the transparent mode but they also can work as a router, but not wireless.

Netgear DM111P

  • Summary: I just want to say that despite all of the other comments, this modem is great. If any of those other users knew anything about their internet they would know its not the modem’s fault. All those dropouts and problems people get and comment on here are a result of the lines going to the modem and other external factors.

Easy, Excellent, Efficient

  • Summary: Had a telco supplied modem that they claimed was good, but would not make solid connection.. Purchased this because I trust the name "Netgear",and was pairing it with a Netgear 124G VPN router, made one small change that was well covered in the literature (and for that matter from this vendor... thank you) and first time it connected and still stays connected. In future would not hesitate to recommend this unit.

Fantastic Modem

Jakealope, Dick Smith
10 December 2011
  • Summary: Easy to setup and flawless performance. Only needs a restart every fortnight, when setup correctly (in bridge mode, with a compatible router). My router handles all the nitty-gritty, my modem simply bridges the connection, which makes the whole process easier on the modem. This makes a genuine modem, not a silly NAT thing that complicates everything! Brilliant device, recommend it to anyone.
  • Pros: easy setup, 802.1d bridging, no nat!

Once again Netgear comes up with a winner

  • Excerpt: Well first of all let me say I am a great lover of Netgear so when my old modem gave up the ghost after many years I decided to stick with Netgear. This model supports ADSL/ADSL2 and ADSL2+. The network cable set up was very easy to do just using the setup wizard and the cable supplied which was plenty long enough for me as my PC and modem are very close together. You are also supplied with a filter which I already had in place from the old modem.
  • Pros: Reliability
