Summary: Unfortunately, I live in an area where DSL or Satellite with data limits are the only choices for Internet access, and I have both, Half way through each month, I hit my satellite data limit (15 GB) and simply shut the modem off for the rest of the month.
Summary: Not the world's easiest set up, but once going it works really well in our house. The range could be slightly better, as our second floor is definitely slower than the first nearer the unit, but it works consistently.
Summary: We've been using this router now for several years. We do have wireless internet and it does work very very quickly so I have no major complaints. However, our house is pretty small but once you've gone down the hall and into any of our bedrooms the signal is extremely weak or non existent...
Summary: Make sure from your ISP before you buy a ADSL modem if your connection is ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ (Older technology) or VDSL/VDSL2 (New technology). This is dependent on the connection they ran to your house and and not city / ISP. ADSL and VDSL are NOT compatible with each other.
Summary: This is a backup Modem/Router for me and I find this Netgear DGND3300 works very good. I have put it in line for over two weeks and it worked very well. I use a ZyXEL PK5000Z and from what I see they are very close in all functions. Great for Wireless operations.
Summary: Got the modem installed, set up both bands, networked all three computers in the house and updated the firmware in just over an hour. I set up my daughters PC as the lone connection on the 5Ghz band since she is the second heaviest user. So far so good.
