Summary: I bought this all in one modem router from my local walmart to set up my Time Warner Cable internet. Modem worked fine but wi-fi did not the signal was not strong enough and no external antennae after several attempts my cable company recommended I buy a seperate modem and router.Zoom Modem- Netgear Router also bought at my local walmart worked right the first time right out of the boxes no problems.Motorola is not really Motorola anymore the name is owned by another...
Summary: I wanted to replace my cable modem because the cable company started charging an equipment fee. The product performs as expected. Relatively easy to install. The unit came without the original disc. The modem was compatible with my local cable company. My local cable company helped with registering the MAC address.
Summary: This item was recommended by my cable company as one of several for replacement of a cable company supplied modem that was at end-of-life and wouldn't be supported anymore. I also had a wireless router I bought as part of the connection. The Motorola SBG6580 was bought to replace both of these items. Instructions were clear and setup was aided by my internet supplier having a website that came up automatically and did the connection and wireless setup for me.
Summary: I have had several interent modems and this model is by far the best, with it's integrated router. At least with Charter I know, with the disk provided, it installs itself onto their system, no waiting for their techs to come on and try and tell you that you can't use your own modem, you just have to call the sales dept to get their overpriced cheap quality modem removed from your account and return it to them.
