  • Summary: The router drops wifi at least once a day. Your computer can still see the router but is not able to connect. Reseting the router is the only fix. Wired connections are unaffected but so what, I wanted a wireless router. Doing a Google search shows many, many people complain about the same problem. Cisco even mentions the issue without giving a definitive solution. Cisco hints "your computer software software may not be compatible".

Linksys router was worst purchase ever

  • Excerpt: I bought this and was very dissapointed. It didnt connect at all. the cd didnt even help. tried getting computer help and they told me that it was junk. I went back to my belkin router. Most reliable product that I have bought. I recomend Belkin products or netgear over linksys. My brother has called me many times on how to fix his router, and he always has to call the tech support and try to get them to fix it. In the end he bought a belkin.

Not so good

  • Excerpt: Very disappointing. First of all when i saw the "N" label, I thought it would work faster with my laptop which has a b/g/n card in it. However, it doesn't display "N" in the broadcast. Also if you manually set it to N only, the computer won't even connect. So I wonder what kind of "N" signal it is sending out. Sort of like a b/g router labeled as an N router to boost sales. Second thing. It drops internet connection every 20 to 30 mins.

How frustrating can a router be?

  • Excerpt: I didn't think I could hate a piece of computer equipment but I was wrong. This is my story. I had just gotten an apartment (my first) so I was getting all of which I considered the essentials and a laptop was one of them. Up until now I never actually knew what made a laptop portable. Well I found out real quick. I was told I needed a router so I went shopping online. I wanted to find one at a decent price which was my first mistake maybe.

The Linksys WRT120N is very unstable

  • Excerpt: We recieved the Linksys WRT120N wireless n home router for Christmas last year and we have struggled all year long just to keep it online.  We finally gave up and it just sits up on a shelf right now and we share the one computer in the computer room.  Trying to get assistance with this device is like pulling teeth.  They won't give you your code to get into the help and advise if you have forgotten it and they definitely won't email it to you.

On my third one

MapleMontreal, Viewpoints

  • Excerpt: When I first purchased this product almost a year ago it simply did not work well, and many hours were spent with tech support on the phone. So I go a replacement which worked adequately, but certainly not what I expected. Sometimes service slows to a crawl without explanation, wireless connections dropped on occasion, but nevertheless too often. And then after 11 months it died completely.

  • Summary: Stay the heck away from this thing. If you buy one, you will regret it and that's guaranteed.
  • Pros: Easy to set up; plays nice with most wireless devices
  • Cons: Unreliable; maddening; stress-inducing; could lead to stomach ulcers

Lies...it's not really "N"...it's trash

William B., Newegg

  • Summary: The highest WiFi speed I've seen is 6Mb/s...and THAT is if there is no other WiFi traffic.
  • Pros: NewEgg gives RMA's...
  • Cons: Slow! This NEVER WiFi transferred files faster than 6Mb/s!

  • Summary: I bought this product, then had to return it,just to exchange it~just thought it was a fluke that it had messed up,that it was just a defective product..It all started over again, and had to call 'Linksys' techs to fix the problem and get my internet back online#wireless# NUMEROUS times, and these sessions would take hours to resolve!! if they could be resolved, most of the time i had to call back and get a different tech to figure it out.
