Summary: after losing one internet connection due to the ice in the area, I completely had to remove this pig from my network and put a plain router in. had used Cisco Dual Gigabit WAN VPN Router (RV042G-NA) twice previously with great success so was disappointed with this one. spend the extra 30 bucks.
Summary: I have been using a RV042 router since 2006. However, it just recently failed. Therefore I replaced it with this new one because the previous one worked exactly as expected. Although I initially thought I only needed one port to create my VPN, which was the primary purpose for purchasing it, I later...
Summary: It's the only reasonably priced load balancer I was ever able to find, and it does that VERY well... I had several of those during the years, and the new cisco flavored UI is even clearer and faster
freeze up a lot, cannot login to the web configuration page

Summary: The newer RV042 has problem. This problem happens every time after I changed the configurations on VPN, logs settings, it will just freeze up and I cannot login in again to the configuration page. It is a terrible device, if I know this will happen I will not buy it.
Summary: This is my first VPN Router. I'm using Hardware version3. Amazing. Easy to configure. PPTP VPN works very well.I did,nt tried IPSec VPN yet. The configuration GUI remember me the old SMCBR24Q. Almost identical. So I'm in home. No need to reboot. No problem at all.
Summary: This router does well with load balancing But....... Some problems that I have encountered. 1 Turning on the DMZ host shuts off the load balancing feature. 2 If you are running virtual servers this unit is not for you. You need to plug in your server into the DMZ / wan port.
Summary: I have several RV042's and RV082's in use in our office and field sites. They are all being pulled out of service and replaced as we speak. I have used these for several years but have recently found a serious problem regarding the router not properly closing TCP sessions.
Summary: Works as it should. Does not allow as much "tuning" as I was used to with the ASA's and PIX's - but for small business set ups - it works well. Wish it had more ability for tuning fail-overs though.

Summary: This is a very nice unit. Having VPN tunnels in the router is a great idea. But it can't redirect an incoming connection on port "X" to port "Y". You can configure port "X" to go to an internal IP address, but it must be on port "X". That doesn't work in my environment.
Summary: Our unit (RV042) worked well in our small business environment for 18 months. Yesterday all clients lost connectivity and I discovered that the router had randomly reset all settings to factory defaults. I reset all settings and the router worked for 12 more hours.
