Summary: This is a great product and value for your home/SOHO network. Also great for network labs at home. I would recommend this to those who are thinking about buying the more expensive Cisco product as it does basically the same thing for a cheaper price.
Summary: Item works great, easy to configrure. product provides reliable gateway VPN solution and a multi NAT solutions as well. Supports AEG256 up through 3DES and supports SHA and triple DES or 3DES. Supports DMZ and multi WAN connetions along with VPN passthrough support for several protocols.
Summary: o produto mais simples da linha cisco rv, mas com grande potencial, para gerenciamento de até dois links, com duas portas wan e configuravel uma dmz, excelente para pequenas e médias empresas.
Summary: Linksys RV042 is a simple to configure and reliable VPN router. One of the main benefits is setting up a VPN tunnel between remote offices (albeit another RV042 at the other site) is an easy task.
Cons: Bad product. Doesn't work after few monts. I am not talking about just one of them. I used 3 different routers and all of them went bad. Even the ones that got replaced, went bad after few months of use.
Summary: I probably should have gone with something beefier instead of trying to do IT on a budget, but then again I am only trying to use the advertised features. This is probably good for a home, but I am so sick of these that I am about to replace 15 of them including the 8 and 16 port versions. Here are the things that make my life hell with these routers...
Summary: Bandwidth on DSL is not enough (~5Mbps/~1Mbps)... so I thought to add Wireless access as ClearWire service is available in my area. Unfortunately, Clearwire is also not that fast... but additively, it would be much better. After much research on performance, features and cost, I chose this Dual-WAN router to solve my speed issues. I have been using it for several months now.
Summary: Great router/firewall for small business offices! Full featured and easy to setup. 2nd WAN port for backup Internet provider connection or configure as a DMZ network. Supports multiple VPN encryption protocols point to point as well as Cisco Quick VPN software client. Have many installed at client sites.
Not ready for prime time, wait a firmware rev or two

Summary: I have used the previous versions of the RV042 for nearly as long as they have been available. Principally, I like them for their permanent VPN tunnel feature. However, the latest version (hardware V3 and firmware v4.0.4.02) has a pretty significant flaw. While I am able to configure and connect tunnels just fine, the router never makes appropriate entries in its own routing table to enable traffic to actually traverse the tunnel!
