Excerpt: I purchased this because my previous router which was the Linksys wrt54gs after 8 years was having a hard time staying connected and the strength was not very good. Since I also use it for streaming Netflix I decided to upgrade and wanted to purchase a Linksys because the set up on my previous one was so simple and fast. The set up for this one was not as easy. I was setting it up with my laptop and it would not go past 25% set up.
Excerpt: Was very easy to install, set up and connect to the wireless in my house. However not sure 100% this is the best product. I have only owned it about 3 weeks and it does seem to drop the wireless signal in our house periodically and I have to run a fix scan on the internet to get it reconnected each time. But it could also be other issues as well not sure yet still have to investigate and no it's not distance my house is 2100 sq ft.
Excerpt: I replaced a low end Linksys E1200 wireless N in an effort to achieve the longer range that others here said they got. I have not experienced ANY increase in range and in fact had to buy a range extender to boost the signal. Per the signal strength indicator on my devices the signal strength is the same for the E1200 and the EA4500 at a modest distance. The good news is that the features of a "smart wi-fi" are really handy.
Excerpt: Great for a standard router. Works very well with all wired/wireless devices. The biggest problem is the utility software that controls the router. It does not work, nor can they fix it. If they do get it going, it will fail when you turn off the computer and restart.
Summary: My 5 year old Linksys router gave up the ghost, so I bought this one, thinking top of line, top of range, right? WRONG! My old one had more range. I now have continual issues with my peripherals not getting a signal. Should have done more research, I guess. Can't recommend it.
