User Review

  • Summary: Setup was easy. Every morning, all of our device (laptop, phones, tablets, pods, audio, and etc) lose connection with the router and I have to reset before I go to work every morning or get a call from my wife that EVERYTHING is not working at the house. After spending countless hours with both the ISP and Linksys tech support team on the phone, and receiving all new units (twice) from both, I am still resetting the router every morning.

Linksys has lost the plot

Fish, Office Depot
13 October 2013
  • Excerpt: I've been doing networking since before there was an internet (dial-up BBS days) and as a developer who has written networking software at the packet driver level, I am quite experienced at everything related to networking. Imagine my surprise when the Linksys EA3500 router I bought did not understand subnetting! You read that right. It does not understand that 255.255.0.0 is a valid subnet! This is unforgivable for a company owned by Cisco for crying out loud!
  • Pros: looks pretty, probably ok for newbies
  • Cons: can't change subnet

  • Summary: Expected this to be the same quality that I've always had from Linksys products but this one is very poor. The Bad: 1. Unable to configure parental controls for some devices because it fails to show up. 2. Not able to manually add Devices via MAC or IP Addresses. 3. They are marketing this as a Smart Wi-Fi router but the "Apps" are very few and most of them cost money. Frankly I don't see much value in these apps. 4.

  • Summary: Sets up very easily. Drops wireless internet connection within 5 minutes. Re-set it up, drops wireless Internet connection within 5 minutes. Hard wired device maintains Internet connection. This router is a refurb. Used included CD to set up to no avail. Used Cisco Magic to set up and fix connection to no avail. Followed Link-sys Forum to no avail. Will call to return it before warrantee runs out. Was up grading a D-Link wireless witch works perfectly. Wanted dual band.

Do NOT Buy Linksys

ITDIR5280, Officemax
18 January 2013
  • Excerpt: I purchased my router (EA3500) 5 months ago. Until a couple of days ago it was working OK, but then the internet access stopped. I was able to connect directly through the modem and get internet, but the WAN port on the router was not getting an IP address after several resets. I contacted Linksys/Cisco to get a repair. They said that their complimentary chat support was only for 90 days and that I would have to pay $30 for support.
