Linksys is going downhill each and every day

Tony C, Amazon
  • Summary: Bought this 1 yr and 2 days ago and been having issues with it since I got it. Tried Tech Support at least 5 times including tonight and each time they did not know what they are doing. All reps were from out of the USA and don't know nothing and only follow what the computer in from of them tell them to do. Spent a 1/2 hr tonight to be told that I have to pay $30 for 1 support and 15 days if the issue comes up again.

Very LOW performance

ferdi, Amazon
  • Summary: A friend of mine recommended it as a good equipment to improve performance of the Internet in his 2 floor house. So, I contacted you and purchased this item. It NEVER showed ANY improvement AT ALL in my house also of two floors. Somebody of this company wrote me a letter with some indications of hwo to solve the problem but neither it worked ! What I DEMAND now is that you receive this equipment and I will send you it where you indicate.

Weak range, dropouts, & Abominable Media Prioritization

Joe Chasko, Amazon
  • Summary: Nice interface and features, but regular band range through walls is weak. Not as good as my old Dlink N router. Don't know about high band. This is the second "refurb" unit, which apparently means repackaged. The first would drop off the LAN every day, until you power cycled it. This ones SEEMS to be dropping off the cable WAN a few times a day, though I can't know until I hook up the old D-link. (BTW, Net Uptime Monitor is a great way to log your WAN for ten bucks.

Very Poor Wireless Range

Charlie, Staples
8 June 2014
  • Excerpt: The title pretty much says it all. I have a 1250 square foot house and my neighbors signal is better than what this router has at 30 feet away. Don't waste your money. Get the EA3500, or the EA4500 and you'll be happy.

Absolute Garbage - Do NOT buy this junk

Paul, Staples
18 April 2014
  • Excerpt: My old Linksys WRT54G and WRT54GL routers work perfectly with static IPs on everything on my LAN, but I wanted gigabit ethernet between computers, so I bought a Linksys EA2700 which has a 4 port gigabit switch in it. The first one worked for a year then quit working. After about 7 calls to Linksys tech support they finally agreed to sell me a refurb for a reasonable price so I did that. They also tried over and over to upsell me to a $200 router.

Piece of junk! DO NOT BUY EVER! GO WITH NETGEAR

baystallker, Ebay
3 March 2014
  • Summary: This was sold as used but working properly. It had to be reset or would lock up approx. every hour or so. Stick with netgear. The wifi performance was never above 22Mbps and that is with a 802.11 N laptop that is dual band. And an AC card that retros to dual N. All the Linksys gear I tried in the last week was subpar. E1200, EA2700, EA6400. This EA2700 touted gigabit LAN but would/could only achieve 26Mbps of throughput on a gigabit model with 10' of Cat6 E.

  • Summary: I noticed that all the people who rated this router high are new owners, less than a couple of months. I had the workhorse WRT54GL Wireless-G router for several years but it died and Linksys recommended upgrading to handle the load. They sold me the EA2700 about 18 months ago. Before the year was up, it started dropping me, I called and spent many hours and days trying fixes, I finally told them I thought they were waiting for my year to be up so it wouldn't be covered...
