Poor Range

Chris Morinville, Amazon
4 December 2014
  • Summary: It seems to have very poor range. I was trying to upgrade from a WRT54G router to get more range. My range is probably worse.

DOES NOT HAVE A PRINTER PORT

larry p, Amazon
6 October 2014
  • Summary: Router works fine so far. Replaced another Linksys that I had for years and had started dropping signals. The problem I have is not with the router but the display on Amazon. There was only one picture of the router in the ad.

Item is defective.

unrulypenguin, Amazon
4 June 2014
  • Summary: Straight out of the box there was a very noticeable scrape on the top of the router. I disregarded it because I am aware that I bought a refurbished product. However, after I set up the E2500, I noticed the 5ghz band wasn't working.

User Review

ABMBY, Walmart
1 April 2014
  • Summary: Like another reviewer posted, it connected wirelessly only to one laptop, the other laptop had to be connected with a LAN cable. The one laptop I was able to connect wirelessly only showed 4 bars at all times and mind you this was not just a visual deficiency, I experienced slower internet speeds as...

This is the original version of this model, and didn't work for me

Mohr "MC", Amazon
4 March 2014
  • Summary: I'm not sure if all of these bundles are from the same "batch". But I ordered this router (with USB adapter) in January of 2014. There are three versions of the E2500, and I received Version 1, which originally came out in March 2011.

V3 NOT DD-WRT COMPATIBLE

Alejandro R., Newegg
23 January 2014
  • Summary: I'm a former Google employee. I did everything I could to try and make this work. Maybe someday in the future it'll be ready to run.
  • Pros: Looks to be a great router. Nice design, fast speeds, but can't use it, since it's not DD-WRT or Tomato compatible. ONLY V1 and V2 are custom firmware ready. I'm sure this is a great router (I did buy it afterall), but only giving two eggs due to the misleading title. "Linksys E2500-NP Dual-Band ...
  • Cons: As you've read above, V3 does not support DD-WRT, nor Tomato. The title of this product is misleading. If Linksys would build Wireless Repeater functionality into their basic firmware, this wouldn't be an issue.

didn't do what I expected

Debbie, Staples
18 January 2014
  • Excerpt: instead of getting a extender to my Belkin I had, it was suggested to get a new router, my house is less than 75ft long and devices at end of house don't see the connection - no better off than my original router that was 15 yrs old!!
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Secure Connection
  • Cons: Distance, Unreliable connection

it breaks after 8 months

bozobuddy, CNET
5 January 2014
  • Summary: Their customer service was really bad, we had this for less than a year and apparently on their "record" its past the warranty. Call them and they hung up on me, called them the second time they left me on the line for over 25 minutes and had transferred me to another representative.
  • Pros: it has a guest and a primary connection
  • Cons: terrible customer services, to get any help; they will charge you for 60 buck for the basic service and 150 for the "premium". I wanted to support a Canadian company but i guess not this one any more.
