Buy a higher grade of router

Christian A. Sibley "Sibster77", Amazon
2 July 2015
  • Summary: I expect a lot from Linksys. Maybe that's my problem. I bought this to replace an older model that was a casualty of moving. Overall, it works...not well, not terribly. The problem I have is that it "refreshes" every hour or so and wifi connectivity is lost for anywhere from 15 seconds to a minute.

  • Summary: I am extremely disappointed in this router. I have to continuously reboot it to be able to connect to the internet. I would not recommend it.

Danger, danger, Will Robinson!

likestotinker, Amazon
18 May 2015
  • Summary: I purchased the E1200 Wireless-N300 router on the strength of the Linksys name and my experience with (mostly) reliable Linksys products in the past. After opening the box, I changed my mind, and I'm returning the product.

Avoid tech support

Thucydides, Amazon
18 July 2014
  • Summary: Over 6 hours chatting with tech support to get it to work. Ended up having to reset the router and start over. I think the router is OK, but hope you have a smooth setup. Linksys tech support isn't the greatest. Due to several disconnects, I ended up working with 4 different techs.

regretting it

David K., Newegg
15 May 2014
  • Pros: maybe good for a single house with no streaming
  • Cons: router struggles with speed, streaming hd content to 2 computers and gaming seems to really tax this one. drops signal and slows down alot.. last night i had to reset it twice

Not good at all

Anonymous, Newegg
5 April 2014
  • Summary: There are no screw head style mounting points of any kind on the bottom of this router, making nice and tidy basement wall mounts on wood impossible. This is more of a home, top of the desk style router anyway though.
  • Pros: Unlike most routers, this one came with software on CD that is actually really helpful to inexperienced users. I found it to be very hand-holdy and guided and quite intelligent. I didn’t see any free trial or borderline malware that it tried to load either. I did find the software to be a bit gli...
  • Cons: The number one problem with this router by far is the lack of gigabit on the wired ports. That is so completely insane, I can’t believe it’s true but it is. So you’re stuck at 100 megabits tops, also known as 12.5 MB/s top file transfer speed. Even large print jobs will take forever at that speed...

Problem with distance

David M., Newegg
2 April 2014
  • Summary: The E900-NP is about $10 cheaper than the E1200-NP but it has a better supporting distance from the unit. Although the E1200-NP has more menu options the majority of home users will never touch them.
  • Pros: Internet Connection: Verizon FIOS, 75MB Download, 35 MB Upload Compared to Linksys E900-NP, E1200-NP and EA6700 Menus for options are simplistic and good. It has a tab format and you choose which section you want to go into. The menus are not as advanced and clean as the EA6700 but the two wirele...
  • Cons: The E1200-NP had severe problems with distance, when going to the other side of my home both the EA900-NP and EA6700 saw small cuts to their performance. BUT the EA1200-NP went down to speeds of 5Mbps Download and Upload while the other units were still in the 30s and 40s.

not compatible after all

s, Staples
10 March 2014
  • Excerpt: I like the Linksys routers and this one says it is compatible with Vista operating system. But it is not. If you go on-line and check blogs, there are 10's of thousands of folks who found out the long way around, also, that it is NOT compatible.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up
  • Cons: No Compatible With Vista
