If its refurbished, call Cisco support

alindstam, Amazon
8 February 2013
  • Summary: The delivery came next day, even though I chose 2 day - this was good, very good. It appeared to be in pristine condition. What I didn't realize was that since it was refurbished, the original disk that it came with wasn't any good. In the end I had to connect via phone to Cisco service department.

User Review

Big D, NCIX.com

  • Summary: Simpled down web interface which is great but lacks the very obvious need for guest acct mgnt. not sure what cisco was thinking. as for communication distance, I would say very average. I have 3000sqft home and you start losing bars as soon as you leave the room.
  • Pros: Built and managed by Cisco - reputable company
  • Cons: have to use Cisco Connect to manage guest acct...defaults to ON so would be frustrating to novices

The right value.

Jason S., Newegg
22 March 2011
  • Summary: A simple, easy to follow guide on how to set up TCP's and port forwarding, ect., would be wonderful. And allow me to use the router to it's full capabilities.
  • Pros: Fairly easy point-and-click setup/installation. Networks my 2 PC's and PS3. Takes a bit of fiddeling with, but I've got everything communicating, and video's stream well. Wireless setup is also, fairly easy. Range is great, low profile, and "sporty" looking.
  • Cons: The web interface is much like motherboard BIOS, clunky and unimpressive. I still cannot get it to allow my PC's and PS3 to host games with people off my home network. Tech support.... needs to learn how to explain things in English. I'll give it 5 eggs when I can host games.

  • Summary: Sometimes less is more.
  • Pros: Works with decent range.
  • Cons: The encryption gives me a lot of trouble when friends try to connect to my wifi. Live in an appartment and I pretty much need to turn off encryption if anyone wants to use my wifi. Never had this problem with other units. My next router will put me back with Netgear for sure.

Dissapointed

  • Pros: The quick setup does make setting up the router really easy. Cheap
  • Cons: The quick setup sets up a quest account by default. which you can disable only from the software. If you like to setup your router via the web setup. Do not run the CD at all. It will only make your router have a bunch of configurations you will not be able to modify.

Stephen M., Newegg
9 December 2010
  • Summary: Bought it to replace my old DLINK router. im going to stick with the old Dlink for i get double the signal this one puts out.
  • Pros: easy set up, put in cd and does everything pretty much for you. Looks cool. Does what its supposed to if in range.
  • Cons: Range. in a one story 1000 sq ft duplex barely covers it all. When in a room on the other side of my tiny house i have 2-3 bars... Not recommened for a big house.

Not the best router

Jessica R., Newegg
19 July 2010
  • Summary: Newegg super fast shipping, will always continue to buy from here.
  • Pros: It works, setup was easy through the install cd. Anyone can setup this router with very little computer experience. Got it working within 3 minutes. First 2 months of the router experienced no problems. I have 3 computers hooked up to it and can easily be downloading files at 300 kb/s on 1st comp...
  • Cons: During the past month after having no issues for the first 2 months, I have had to hard reset the router 2 times for freezing issues. 3 times and random occasions the wifi reception went all the way down for about 5 min, and speeds were super slow. I checked to see if I had the latest firmware an...

Good in the end but a disappointing start.

MRF, Amazon
26 September 2011
  • Summary: I was looking for an upgrade to my Linksys WRT54G wireless router, which I was very happy with. I wanted wireless N, a reasonable range and reliable connection. After some agonizing I settled for this one out of brand loyalty and of course price.
