User Review

  • Summary: I've had this router for quite a while, and after Linksys changed the set up to Linksys smart wifi, I've had constant issues, where I have to reboot the router, Its also much harder with the Linksys smart wifi page to add a wireless device. Good Luck if you buy it, I used to think Linksys had the best products, but after what I paid for it, and it not even being able to wirelessly hookup with another Linksys product, and constant dropping issues I don't think I would buy...

EA6500 v1.0 - don't buy

Bennett M., Newegg
16 February 2014
  • Summary: After working hard, I have been able to make this router work for me.
  • Pros: Does support both 2.4 & 5 Ghz. Can get it to work with a lot of effort.
  • Cons: No longer supported by Linksys. Buggy, BUGGY, Buggy software. The last firmware release for v1.0 was 3/22/13.

Junk

Glenn B., Newegg
17 January 2014
  • Summary: I have always been a Linksys fan, but this experience has shook that dedication to the point that I asked for a refund and not a replacement. I am thinking about moving away from Linksys until their quality, and quality control, catch up with their reputation. Maybe I will try D-Link or ASUS.
  • Pros: Nothing that I can think of since it never worked right.
  • Cons: First let me say I am CCNA certified and 2 tests into CCNP so my knowledge of networking is higher than average. This product had issues connecting devices to it right off the bat. I had to do a reset to finally get devices to connect. When I was finally able to get machines connected I could not get over a 3Mbps connection on a 20Mbps line (using a web based test or the built in testing tool). The router would continually drop connectivity and give me error 2315. Thi...

SO SO Router

LI Dad, Staples
31 December 2013
  • Excerpt: I bought this router after I returned a Netgear router. I expected better from Linksys. I've been using Linksys routers for many years and this is by far the worst router I've ever owned. Signal strength is worse than my older router. I have plenty of bandwidth to cover all my devices, but this router can't handle it. Use it wired and it's great.. The smart App is a joke.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast Connection Speed
  • Cons: Drops Connections, Signal Strength Is Weak, Slow Connection Speed, Unreliable connection

  • Pros: Performance and Range are amazing.
  • Cons: Poor reliability. Unit locks up and requires reboot to resolve.

"Very upset about this router and lack of support"

cnetski, CNET
14 June 2013
  • Pros: Speed improvement doubled over previous Router Modem combination. Some improvement in range.
  • Cons: Bad Instructions.Support a joke. Tech services phone number on Cisco Linksys web site was an offer for trip on a cruise ship. Dumped my call. The router USB connection killed a new hard drive. High price really not worth it. Cisco should be ashamed.

Don't buy this router!

dickanders, Staples
16 May 2013
  • Excerpt: The first one I took home had to be returned as inoperable. The second one needed three and a half hours of tech support from Cisco before we could get it to work. I have finally, after two weeks got all my wireless units connected and operating properly. Two laptops, two printers, and two Roku. All working fine now, but what a hassle. I bought the $20 tech support for when it goes bad.
  • Cons: Difficult To Set Up
