Unreliable product

Dr. V, B&H Photo
28 May 2014
  • Excerpt: This device worked on and off, not good when you want to watch a movie and it keeps stopping due to network loss. The network was working fine, this device just dropped the signal. The unit is small and lightweight, but other than that, it didn't seem to work for us.
  • Cons: Unreliable connection

Great Product

Elliott A., Newegg
15 January 2013
  • Summary: I bought 2 of these and have at least 3 devices plugged into each of them. Pair these with a really good Wireless N router and I get Netflix on Hi Def setting all day long with no dropouts.
  • Pros: Fire and forget
  • Cons: If your private network is not on a 192.168 net you will have to switch your PC to that network and plug directly in to the device so you can get into the device to set it up.

Custom Configuration lacking

Michael M., Newegg
7 June 2012
  • Pros: Works ok once I resolved my issues.
  • Cons: The configuration of this device is severly lacking. You cannot change the ip address which is 192.168.1.252. If you are using the default ip space 192.168.1.x on other devices like you main router you will have issues. Since this device is not configurable I had to change my router. In fact the only thing you can configure on this device is the wireless connection settings. Having a unchangeable static ip on any device these days is just plain unacceptable.

works

Karen C., Newegg
9 April 2012
  • Pros: easy to configure. works. connected to apple airport extreme. Connected to WD HD LIve media Player and panasonic pet cam. main reason for this was because the wireless petcam was having problems keeping a connection to the airport. Petcam works great now. Media player is another story.
  • Cons: not getting the expected bandwidth, so pretty useless using it to stream hidef movies to the WD. good enough though to download firmware and such. haven't tried to stream internet video.
