Summary: I just got this today(1/5/15) in order to share a Scansnap document scanner(http://tinyurl.com/lkba6q8) and a Silhouette Cameo (http://tinyurl.com/ltmx6uq) over the network to my Windows 8.1 and Mac(Yosemite) laptops and it worked perfectly! Only one machine can connect to the device at one time which is fine.
Summary: The USB ports failed to accept some " My Passport USB3 " hard drives at first although I was able to attach many other devices including a portable USB DVD reader. I decided to try to upgrade the firmware. BIG PROBLEM. After wasting a lot of time without success I was obliged to return the device to the original software and firmware. To my surprise the problem drives were then accepted !
Will not work with keyboard mouse due to poor design, or work at all due to hardware failures

Summary: If you're buying this to go beyond the limits of a wireless USB keyboard and mouse - or, as in my case, buying to make a corded mmorpg gaming mouse and keyboard become a *wireless* mmorpg gaming mouse and keyboard - then do NOT buy this hub. Besides the fact that you have to use a separate mouse each time you boot or log in to even start the connection because it will ONLY autostart printers, this unit will also constantly drop the connection to your devices, and mine...
Summary: I am using this sharing station to remote control my Astronomy Observatory. Basically, I connect the Telescope Mount (Celestron CGEM), my DSLR (Nikon and Canon), my Autoguider (StarShoot Autoguider), Remote Temperature/Humidity Sensor (PCSensor TemperHum), and my Planetary Webcam (Celestron NexImag 5). I can connect directly to this device, and I can use a Powered USB 2/3 Hub. Both methods work great.
Summary: I bought this device to use with an Arduino Nano, and it works great. I first connected by Ethernet, went to the web address to type in my WiFi password, unplugged my Ethernet cable, restarted, and it connected to my WiFi with no problems. I installed the software for the IOGEAR, installed the driver for my nano, then connected the nano physically, then told the IOGEAR software to connect the device. It works great.
IOGEAR Wireless 4 Port USB Sharing Station GUWIP204 is AWESOME!

Summary: I did not expect this device to work with all kinds of computer peripherals, but thought that I would give it a try. I was amazed that it worked 100 % on all my gaming peripherals. I am using it with Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals and TrackIr 5 Premium Head Tracking. I needed to update the IOGEAR firmware together with the software driver.
I love this - I'm surprised they are more widely known

Summary: Get the software and firmware update from their site - don't use the old software on the CD. They have Windows 8.1 software/drivers available and they work great. Be sure to get the right software as another similar product has a similar name. I called tech support and got through in 4 seconds to a courteous, English speaking, and smart person. I'm buying a 2nd one.
