some issues with it

Shih L., Newegg
1 March 2014
  • Pros: When it works, it's a great product If you have a laptop and you want 4 extra 2.0 usb port this might be the one you want to get
  • Cons: I don't know if this is my laptop's problem or the usb hub's problem. Sometimes my laptop doesn't recognize my usb. I have to keep pull it out and plug it back in again to make it work. If I get rid of usb and plug it in direct, it works just fine. I am guessing this is issue with usb hub.

USB Hub

John W., Newegg
28 December 2013
  • Summary: Had a couple of these for several months and still working OK. When you think about it though there really isn't anything to go wrong in the innards of these things so why should they ever fail?
  • Pros: Works as they should. No problems so far. Loose 1 port then gain 4=net gain of 3.
  • Cons: Dongle cord is really, really short. Should have easily been an inch or so longer.

Not as good as previous model

John W., Newegg
30 August 2013
  • Summary: The three ports on the iogear hub really should be further apart. There seems to be plenty of room on the hub to have spread apart those ports. Upon contacting iogear chat they were puzzled at the problem I was experiencing and were gracious enough to offer to start the RMA process but considering I...
  • Pros: Nice look, cord storage and indicator light feature. Have used one of these older units for years now with no problems.
  • Cons: My previous hub like this one was a GUH285 model. This is a GUH285W6. Neither hub is listed on the iogear web site. My first, older, hub worked just fine with all devices. This later, W6 model, wouldn't see my Logitech Track Ball mouse on the end port or the first port (the furthest from the indi...

4 port

John W., Newegg
24 August 2013
  • Summary: F.G.S.-Just buy it and quit wasting time reading posts.
  • Pros: Bought one of these for the full price- $10 many moons ago and it's still going good with daily use. Just not intended to have thumb drives attached and disconnected real often..
  • Cons: Rather short dongle but not an issue if you just plug it in and a device or two and forget about it. Not powered but for $5 what can you expect.

Not what I needed

David R., Newegg
29 March 2013
  • Summary: I guess if you just need a data hub this would be fine but I bought it to consolidate a charging station and even though I had 2.1A input, nothing would charge correctly w/ this hub. Not my Blackberry, legacy Razor, Sansa etc.
  • Pros: Compact, nice design
  • Cons: Does not route higher USB power input to additional ports
