Summary: An older, somewhat junkie HP laptop came into my possession recently that is known for it's tragic overheating. After modding it a bit and doing some cutouts, I added a laptop cooler just for extra measures rendering the toasty top one less USB port. I thought to myself, "it's time to click over to NEWEGG and remedy this issue." Immediately I sort through refurbs and open box items to no avail. I'm cheap...
Pros: Adds a few inches of extension.
Cons: Does not work with my Linksys wireless USB dongle. I don't use this dongle, (I like saying dongle) but I wanted to test many things in order to give a fair review.
Summary: I bought this to sit on my desk, I ran a usb extension cable from my machine up to it. It works very well, although I had some trouble plugging in a USB stick into a port with something else next to it, so had to rearrange the plugs and use it on the end one. I wish the male connector had a little longer cable, but if it did it wouldn't be so compact. This would be ideal for travel and works great. No drivers or anything silly like that on Linux.
Summary: Only gripe is using on a samsung laptop, they put usb on right hand side. Being right handed it and considering where the usb port is located, it actually comes in a way a little. I wouldnt use this on a desktop due to the cable and it therefore dangling, it is more ideal for a laptop.
Pros: feels sturdy, I got this at a cheaper price here at mwave instead of the current advertised price and definitely worth the money for me.
Cons: unsure about the small cable that links the usb to the extensions, if not careful it could damage connection possibly but if connected all the time, no problems should occur
