Summary: I am giving it a 2 star rating at this point because where we are located in South America I have not been able to get more than a 2G connection with it. I purchased it because it was listed as an unlocked 3G Broadband Router Hot Spot, which is what I was looking for. If it is truly what it is being sold as, then it should operate as such. I am going to have a local tech look at it.
Summary: purchased for my husband to use on trips, pleasantly surprised at how well it works. I was hesitant to order because some people had said it was hard to set up... not at all. My husband said it's pretty much "plug-n-play".
Summary: APN is the key to use this. When you put the SIM card inside. Make sure you go from a computer connected to the wifi of the device to 192.168.1.1 (as directed in the manual) and set up a profile for the network you are going to use. Mine was DIGITEL and I only put the APN (access point network - gprsweb.digitel.ve). You need to do that from a computer, it did not worked from the iPod/iPad. I wasn't able to request a desktop version nor use an app.
Summary: Takuda.Com expedited the shipment and the WI-FI router arrived much sooner than I expected. I also found that the device shipped was the latest hardware version of the device, which was also unexpected. Quad-band (850-900-1800-1900 and 2100 MHz this unit will work almost every country that I visit.
Summary: Its ok but in the usa it only picks up 2g whch is waaaay slow and often shows no nework avail when my ipad is picking up a cell data signal. I tried two different cell carriers (att and t mobile). It picks up wifi too so that is a good thing. I have not tried it outside the usa.
