Excellent bang for buck

Chris T., Newegg
29 October 2012
  • Summary: There are gigabit uplink ports which will work fine for connecting your server. Command syntax is different than Cisco, especially how VLANs are managed but you can trunk the two and the process is fairly painless.
  • Pros: SNMP, fanless, lifetime warranty, fully 100Mbit managed L2 switch for what... a third the price of a managed L2 Cisco? Excellent quality, good feature set and has everything you need for a basic access switch.
  • Cons: It's not gigabit, but at this price that's to be expected.

Great switch

Alicia R., Newegg
30 August 2012
  • Summary: The web interface is very helpful and even works on Linux. So I was initially impressed. That said the issues need to be either cleaned up or fixed by eliminating the Java portion and using AJAX.
  • Pros: This is the same review from the other switch purchased HP J9020A as they are the same family switch and I purchased them at the same time. This switch is being used in a video conferencing school and has been very reliable. We have every port filled and are using several 802.1Q vlans (Trunks and...
  • Cons: The Java based web interface is some what lacking in ease of use except if your using Internet Explorer. There is overlap in the text etc. That said it is navigate able even if you sometimes have to click the buttons more than once. A good backup solution is to use the ssh text console.

Works great

Attn: C., Newegg
24 October 2010
  • Pros: Works great. Easy to use. I can't tell if its quiet because its in a server room.
  • Cons: Doesn't give you as much control over ports as the upper end HP stuff but you have to pay a lot more to get it.

User Review

  • Summary: Procurve Warranty, it can't be beat.
  • Pros: Dropped one of these into a client's network, and as always HP did an excellent job with this switch. We used the 48 port version, however performance wise it is exactly the same as the 24 port. This switch delivered us all the features of the 2810 without the price tag and we will definitely be ...
  • Cons: Web interface leaves a lot to be desired, but the web interface is really only for monitoring not for administration.

Good switch&price, lifetime warranty, silent operation

rold5, Ebay
16 February 2010
  • Summary: Nice, typical web-manageable AND CLI-manageable procurve switch. It does 802.1q tagged AND untagged vlans with easy setup. The 802.1q tagging works fairly easily with linux also. Apparently it can do QoS also, but I haven't used it. And did I mention it's dead silent? No fan!

Quiet, energy effecient, solid, sensible

Bryce Nesbitt "bryce2", Amazon

  • Summary: We are replacing a perfectly good Dell switch with this one, and have been happy. The Dell was fine, but had a very loud cooling fan. Just on energy use alone we can justify this purchase (100W saved over 1 year is 876 kilowatt hours, or roughly $100).

Gerät ist solide.

cb, Amazon
26 May 2011
  • Summary: Gerät ist solide.
