Excellent switch for the money

Summary: HP designed this switch with the desktop in mind. Ports are on the back, status LEDs on the front. If you do not require a rack mounted, managed switch, it is hard to go wrong with the HP J9559A.
Pros: We bought this switch almost four years ago as a temporary stopgap replacement. It wasn't until we started remodeling a section of the office that I remembered it existed. The other GigE switches we have are all managed HP Procurve, Dell, and Cisco models. For standard network traffic, this little HP box keeps up with the big boys. Full 9K Jumbo Frame support, built-in QoS and DSCP prioritization - features not typically found anywhere near this price point. Add to th...
Cons: Well, one could ask for link aggregation, etc. And you can get it - for 5x the cost.
Pros: Our IT shop only purchases HP Procurve switches and we've only had one go bad in 5 years. We replaced a client's server and firewall and since they had an old Dell 10/100 switch we figured we might as well replace their switch while we're at it. They only have 3 computers and a couple of network printers so this switch was the perfect size. Their network was absolutely blazing fast after the upgrade. This switch is great for small businesses that want the most out of ...
Summary: Missing power adapters on both units ordered. called hp 800 number and they will send out the adapters. This is strange that so many people have had this happen. I guess hp knows about the problem and fixes it with no hassle.
Pros: this is the 2nd and 3rd one i've ordered. the first one works great right out of the box.
Summary: When I opened the box the power adapter was missing. Read the reviews and see that others had the same problem. Newegg customer service took 1 WEEK to respond that they were not going to do anything about it. HP was good to send me a power adapter after spending 30 min calling different 1-800 numbers. Now the switch wouldn’t do more than 400 Mbps. Look elsewhere if you value your time and money.
Pros: - The packaging is ok
Cons: - Came without power adapter (common problem)
Pros: I took one egg off for this because two of my switches came without a power adapter. I contacted HP for the power adapters and two were FEDEX Overnight to me the very next morning. Excellent Procurve Warranty. Very nice throughput even when all 8 ports are being used. I notice better performance on his HP than my old D-link and Trendnet Gigabit switches.
