good

Robin King-Thiele, Amazon
27 March 2010
  • Summary: I used this with the hawking directional antenna. Just unscrewed one of the black antenna and screwed the directional antenna in. Now can shoot a signal to the mother-in-law suite in the back yard without running another line. It is great.

Hawking Wireless

Thomas E. Palmer, Amazon
3 November 2009
  • Summary: The Hawking extender worked so well, I thought I'd try the Router. It installed easily and I'm hoping it will be dependable. It slowed down one time after installing 5 computers and some heavy traffic. It leveled out and for about 2 weeks now, appears to be stable and putting out a strong fast signal. I replaced the antennas with one 14dbi directional and 2 regular 9dbi straights. With an extender about 1200 feet down the road, the signal is now strong and steady.

Good wireless router

D. Yu "Don1450", Amazon
16 September 2009
  • Summary: Purchased the router from amazon. It works well, very easy to set up and stable connection. But the coverage is not as great as I expected. Placing the router on the second floor, very weak signal could be received on the basement. I had to place the router on the first floor ,then I could have stable connection on both basement and the second floor. I had a 'Level One wireless router' , this one is just a little better in distance.

Great product!

L. Neese, Amazon
26 August 2009
  • Summary: I am very pleased with this product. I purchased this router because I share internet with my neighbor across the street. The router is at her house and I can go anywhere in my house and have an excellent signal. It was easy to install and works great.

Router distance good- then failed to work- Junk box

wle "wle", Amazon
9 July 2009
  • Summary: Purchased the Hawking HWRN1A Hi-Gain USB Wireless 300N Router for my home office network. The purchase price of $[...] was not the least expensive on the market at that time, but I expected a quality product with a better than average range as the product was advertised. The range was excellent and I had no problems getting connected and secured. The product worked well for 4 months, then simply quit functioning.

Works nothing special

Terese, Amazon
24 June 2009
  • Summary: Product works, I bought this item because of the wireless access expansion capabiilty; the signal strength is stronger and did assist in expanding my network capabilities - but I personally don't think it was worth the cost.

Problems, Problems, Problems, then magic

ROBERT QUARG, Amazon
26 April 2009
  • Summary: Hawking disappointed me!!! In a nutshell, all my wireless and wired devices connected without a problem. The problem occurred when connecting to my broadband provider. I spent hours (about 8 in all) doing everything I could to get this thing connected. Over the years I've had many routers, and some gave me more trouble than others, but I've always been able to get connected, mostly by my own wits. This one just refused.

Works Great, but takes a little skill to set up

SeaWolf's Home Workshop Blog, Amazon
27 December 2008
  • Summary: I bought this product to upgrade and replace the house Wifi setup that had quit working. Since I already had a router, I was looking for just a wireless access point that could accept a range extender if necessary. One of the product descriptions, I read, said the HWRN1A could be used in this manner. Unfortunately the installation instructions made no mention of it.
