OK if you don't want wireless

Mark Allen, Amazon
16 January 2011
  • Summary: If you are using this unit as a wired router it's not bad. The wireless is VERY bad. I could not get a good wireless connection to a laptop six feet away. I am sure the problem was not with the laptop because several laptops were tried. Do not buy this product or you will be disappointed.

  • Summary: The product description seemed good . But if you can't set it up it's useless. I like a setup cd. I will buy from another company that has a better support system.

Good low cost router.

Francis R., Newegg
10 December 2007
  • Summary: The default IP address of the router had to be changed to avoid a conflict with the IP address of the modem and the ISP. I had to get help from Hawking to get it running.
  • Pros: Well made and seems to send strong signal to computer in another room 35 feet away. Excellent help from the Hawking technical representative with the setup procedure.
  • Cons: None that I have noticed so far - maybe some better instructions for someone new to networking.

Would be a 5 if the wireless had more distance and would connect

Anonymous, Newegg
7 December 2007
  • Summary: Great router. It definitly sped up my internet connection. Because my DSL modem had a router built into it, the speed and bandwidth was anything but steller. Now that I got the router and disabled the modems internal router, my connection speed and bandwidth had definitly picked up.
  • Pros: The router is a pretty good and cheap item that was worth the price, especially with the $5 rebate.
  • Cons: None of my wireless equipment would connect to this router at all. Eventhough the router is not even 15 ft away. Hooked the wireless equipment to my main desktop and it wouldn't even connect with it being inches away. It probably needs a signal booster or something.

User Review

  • Summary: Fine for casual use. Spend the extra bucks for a better router if you use the internet much, especially wireless.
  • Pros: Works great sometimes. Wired connection works fine when it is working. Nothing to get excited about.
  • Cons: Drops signal. Can't be picked up from very far away. Needed to be reset fairly often (every couple days). I use the internet a lot so I upgraded to a quality router. The new one (netgear) blows this out of the water.

Great bang for buck!

Daniel H., Newegg
26 October 2007
  • Summary: Lightweight and adjustable antenna (like most)
  • Pros: Works great in my mostly cement dorm room and hall! Its transfer speeds and connectivity through a cement building is great. Only covers a 30 ft radius inside the building but in normal homes it covers a good 50 ft radius. Great performance to cost ratio!
  • Cons: Does not come with many powerful features in setup. Such as DMZ.

Great Little Router

Jessica W., Newegg
7 October 2007
  • Summary: For the price & quality I see compared with the big guys you can't lose.
  • Pros: Unboxed, hooked up, voila, it works! In fact it works better than the more expensive, better known brand name I had before. Web interface straight forward. Range shows no drop off from one end of the house to the other & I have a big house. Customer support from Hawking is fast & excellent!!! Shi...

Poor choice

Sage B., Newegg
4 October 2007
  • Summary: Just don't get it. Buy something else
  • Pros: It worked for 2 days.
  • Cons: Stopped working after 2 days. Don't know why it doesn't work. Called Hawking a number of times and only one time did we successfully get it to work.
