Lasted 2 Years

Rodney P., Newegg
2 March 2015
  • Summary: Died slowly over the last few weeks.
  • Pros: Paid $39.99 for it and it lasted two years and two days from the time I ordered it.
  • Cons: Lasted two years but it only cost me $39.99.

Decent Value

Thomas H., Newegg
10 March 2014
  • Pros: Get's the job done.
  • Cons: Seems to cut out if left on for more than a few days. We have gotten in to the habit of unplugging it at night when we aren't using it anyways. Just a minor inconvienience.

3 Years & 6 months later...

Dennis L., Newegg
13 October 2013
  • Summary: If you can find a more reliable, set and forget Wireless Router at this price point, buy it.
  • Pros: Still working flawlessly...No hangs, reboots, etc. Price/Performance.
  • Cons: None.

Liked it but...

David S., Newegg
2 September 2013
  • Summary: I really liked this router when it worked, you just set it and forget it. It's a real shame that it didn't last any longer than 6 months though. It went down right during finals, so I couldn't wait to do an RMA on it, had to replace it with a big named brand.
  • Pros: Setup was fast and easy. EnGenius practically holds your hand and walks you through it, but never felt overbearing. Wireless range was pretty decent, speeds were good also. Perfect for a small home or apartment. No issues gaming on PS3 or PC.
  • Cons: LAN ports failed after 6 months, had to replace it with a different router.

Bought this to replace the older version, pretty happy

David A., Newegg
4 August 2013
  • Pros: I bought the v2 version as a backup to my original ESR9850. After I started having slight difficulty in connecting one of my laptops (Atheros chipset, had to reboot the laptop after sleep mode to connect) I put the backup in place to see if it would help. While my benchmarks were always top-notch...
  • Cons: Not seeing the v2 version explicitly listed on the site, so I couldn't find out if there were firmware updates. I see in the comments below there are, so please consider updating your website so we can find them. Also, discontinued product. I think with a different case and some more firmware upd...

Monitor allows you to check your WLAN load

Patrick Yi, Amazon
22 April 2013
  • Summary: This is the only home router that I’ve used that allows you to monitor your router traffic. Great for checking whether there’s a bottleneck in your network. I’m using this device as a repeater to expand my wifi coverage while connected to my main router via ethernet so that all devices are on the...

Pleased

Rosa O., Newegg
20 April 2013
  • Summary: I've tried numerous routers by competitors at a range of price points, and this one has easily been the best one. Almost 3 Years of flawless service. Worth every penny.
  • Pros: 1. Has never ((needed)) a reset. 2. Has an effective broadcast range of over 160ft (this is in a wifi-heavy apartment complex). 3. Doesn't get as hot under load as most competing routers. 4. Thorough and feature filled web lobby. 5. Easily hits and sustains 300Mbps speeds for at least an hour (as...
  • Cons: My only complaint is the router color. I can't be the only one that prefers black or gray.

I have now purchased 2 of these... Great!

Jesse W., Newegg
16 April 2013
  • Pros: Easy to setup and is definitely a "set it and forget it" product. I have not touched either of these since they were put in. Also run guest wireless on one which seems to be working without issue as well.
  • Cons: None so far

Works, but has flaws. Going in the garbage.

Nicholas C., Newegg
15 March 2013
  • Summary: I purchased this after reading rave reviews from smallnetbuilder.com on the v1 hardware for this model. After using it a couple weeks, this might just be the worst router I've ever used- only trumped by the $200 netgear I bought locally that couldn't figure out upnp as well as my 10+ year old...
  • Pros: Works- -simple to set up, -defaults that make sense -games for windows live works with it (which isnt as common as you'd think) -has a high enough wan to lan throughput to keep up with 30mbit wan
  • Cons: -Does not keep track of DHCP leases through a reboot. this is BAD because the default DHCP lease time is FOREVER. -Dyndns.org update did not work when my IP changed, forcing me to reboot the router. -forwarding TCP/UDP 1723 to a LAN machine (pptp server) caused UDP53 (DNS) to stop working. (???) ...
