Summary: I work for a small rural ISP in the IT dept and we see all kinds of routers on a daily basis. I had went through a couple high end Linksys/ZyXEL routers ($180+ a piece) and decided to try something different. I am pleasantly surprised by this unit. I'm liking EnGenius so far.
Pros: Works as it should. Connects with 3 Smartphones, 1 tablet, 3 laptops, 1 xbox 360, 2 desktops, 1 bluray player, 1 media center PC.
Cons: Getting it started took a few reboots of our Cable modem, but once it was up, there were no more reboots needed.
Summary: I was planning to replace my old WRT54GL with the ESR750H, using the 5GHz band for streaming videos and the 2.5GHz for all other connected devices. Before even trying the 5GHz connectivity, it clearly appeared that the ESR750H would not be able to replace the WRT54GL for standard devices: with 5...
Pros: - Powerful signal - Feature rich admin interface - Solid WAN router
Cons: - Bad handling of multiple connected devices
Summary: I bought this router in August of 2012 and didn't hook it up until 3 months ago. It was easy enough to set up and performed well in both bands. It has a great feature set. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it as I'm not confident in its longevity...Bummer.
Pros: Great feature set. Good router when it worked.
Cons: Stopped working after 3 months of use. Worked fine prior to that. It now refuses to see my Motorola modem. I can still connect to the router wired and wireless, but I have no internet access. Replaced it with my old router and everything now works fine again. I've always had some minor loss of co...
Summary: If using wireless N, make sure you educate yourself on which security protocols are NOT compatible with wireless N. You will limit your bandwidth/speed if you use a certain security security type in this router. I believe it it WEP and WPA (TKIP) are NOT compatible with Wireless N.
Pros: -great range -easy setup -easy admin interface -works great with a Motorola SB6141 DOCSIS 3 from Newegg
Pros: Great router Had a problem of my laptop restarting each time it started to connect to this router but not other routers. After hours of testing and changing setting found out that I had no problem if I remove the security. I then added security back and had the same problem. Turn out to be the st...
Cons: I would think they would set the tx power by default to 75 not 100. 100 higher than most would ever need and higher that any other I have seen
Summary: I have the latest 1.35 FW and it still does it!
Pros: Strong signal! Easy to use WebUi, with some exceptions : i.e. URL filtering with 'Family Safety’ protocol is not logical.
Cons: This Router now gets several wireless disconnects throughout the day based on the # of clients that link with it. I noticed that this started happening after I enabled the 2.4 GHZ band along with the 5 GHZ. It seems to like just running one band.
Pros: Dual Band, Removable antennas, Range was slightly further then my Linksys 4200
Cons: Support is HORRIBLE. Opened a ticket cause my WIRED devices would lose connection until I rebooted the device. After weeks of the ticket being open and long waits between communication EnGenius support finally came to the "genius" conclusion that I need to check my wireLESS adapters and drivers.....
Summary: This is a good quality router that has a lot of potential but I don't think the software really takes advantage of the capabilities.
Pros: Removable antennas and good connectivity.
Cons: VPN server is a useless feature. I purchased this thinking it was a VPN client, which would be much more useful for the consumer market. How many people really need to run a VPN server from home? Also, the hardware is too new and third party firmwares have not been developed for it so you're out ...
Summary: Wanted to switch away from the dlink and linksys brands of this world and saw that engenius had decent reviews. Setup was pretty easy, but after hooking it up, my network seemed to be... iffy. Sometimes it would go through fast, others it would have trouble with even DNS lookup.
Pros: Dual Band
Cons: Wide and doesn't stand on end, Admin interface needs a UI experience designer, Something going wrong with routing
